Let's be honest. Sony is up against 1 last gen console (Wii) and the worst piece of hardware to play games on in history (360). The only reason Sony is behind is because of head starts and price.
It is clear that the ps3 truly is the only "next gen" console out right now. My company had some good titles like Halo 3 and Gears 1+2, however it will take many many generations of AAA games and rock solid hardware + free online to make a dent in the monolith called Sony.
the only thing surging is the cries from my faithful on the news of a cheaper Ps3, and the price for Xbox 360 accessories.
starting Sept. 1st, we at Microsoft will be introducing our "jump out" campaign, where if you trade in your ps3 slim at your local retailer, we will give you $5 off the purchase of any snap-on, click-on, add-in, or multi-disc accessory of your choosing.
it's a "win-win" for everyone...because we will then strip down the trade...
Obviously with the 360 Elite now at $299, consumers won't need this useless information from IGN.
Nevermind that a gutless "arcade" version of the 360 has been out for over a year, it is the newly priced Elite that will spark consumers interest this holiday season.
Why buy something with features when you can stay with Microsoft for all your outdated software and hardware needs?

for a minute there, i thought CNET was talking about the 360.
then i realized the $24 hunk of plastic they are talking about is the ps3 stand, not our wifi add-on, which shouldn't be selling for any less than $100.
i think the next article i will pay CNET for will be titled: "the ps3 slim will give you herpes if you buy it"...that should create the same fear my consumers have of the RROD in everyone else.

Actually, Sony is farther ahead than anyone. Microsoft mouthpieces like myself claimed Digital Downloads while fighting the perception of Blu-Ray early on in this generation, only to lose HD-DVD and under deliver on the DD front.
