I love looking at the hardware behind all these platforms. We might pretend like there's some kind of major platform war going on behind the scenes, but in the end, they're all computers. They aren't that different after all :)
I love the freedom of creativity that indie developers have -- the best ones really love their games, and that always shows in the final products.
The clients are burdensome and obnoxious. I like when services don't require them.
Origin is unbearable and untrustworthy. I don't trust EA with my money after what they've done.
Indeed! Cyberpunk games have been sadly absent for the last few years, but this year we're getting a few - to include Syndicate.
GOG has amazing prices on those old games. I own most of them, but the simplicity of installation and full compatibility makes the purchases worth it.
This is looking sort of cool. I'm not a huge FF fan, but I do like tactical games like this!
As Steam becomes more bloated, it will inevitably become more evil. All competition is good competition - it lowers prices and forces Steam and others to remain innovative and stay on their toes.
I really like the art in this one.
I've seen enough of that damn clown. It's the stuff of nightmares.
Cyberpunk settings are my all-time favorite. I wish more games would come out like these -- Dystopia has been great to me, Tron 2.0 was also awesome.
I've been considering trying out Tropico 4 for quite some time now... I love the idea of a Castro version of Rollercoaster Tycoon.
Here you go, enjoy:

Is it practical? No! Absolutely not! Is it fun to see all these expensive parts? Sure thing.
The i5-2500k is a phenomenal CPU, agreed. The Noctua is a great cooler - Tuniq's Tower 120 Extreme is another very good cooler for Sandy Bridge / Nehalem CPUs.
Indeed, but you need to make sure you get a card that supports it properly. There is no guarantee it will work -- it will either unlock or it won't, sort of like the X3/X4 unlocking functionality (also seen in the 960T Zosma).
Patriarchy dominates the gaming world as much as it dominates the real world, and it's bad for everyone - males and females alike. Solid article.
And then you turn out to be the villain, and every enemy you've ever slain was one of the "chosen ones." Shortly after encountering the hero-turned-bad guy in the cave, you reveal that, in fact, the entire thing was a dream and your character wakes up with his head resting on his keyboard. He sits up and realizes that he'd been playing a game, and in the game he was playing, his character has woken up and is playing a game.

I never did get around to getting a 3DS. I'm really interested in it from a technology perspective, but don't care much for playing on handheld devices (my hands always cramp up on those damn things). Some of those demos look great!
I thought I'd mention this: I think it's hilarious when MMOs say that you're the "chosen one" or the "only hope," and then instantly surround you with 500,000 other players that are equally chosen.
It completely kills the mood.
I've been looking forward to Planetside 2 since Planetside 1. Internet connectivity wasn't fast enough back in the first round, so I can't imagine how much more awesome the game will be without, you know, dial-up.
