@Arksine: it states clearly in the beginning of the article that this is an upgrade build, not a starter kit. If you need a starter kit, we have other articles for that :)
@SMOK3o: The Llano is a fantastic CPU overall - however, you have to be careful: it uses a new socket type (FM1), so that means you will be limited to motherboards which support FM1 socket CPUs.
Compatibility limitations aside, the CPU unlocks a new market for AMD -- previously, Intel domin...
The build was under the assumption that the user already owns a mouse, keyboard, OS, etc. We do these upgrade builds as strictly "the box and what is inside it" as not everyone prefers the same OS (and many already own it).
The X6 is not a very good processor for a few reasons; primarily, since there are six cores, that means the cache per core is significantly lower than a quad-core CPU -- however, you could still get use out of the CPU if you are focusing on video...
Slight spoiler: the massive queen alien shot its tentacle through Kara in one of the cut-scenes.
Fantastic. Disregard free time, acquire games.
Uh, no. The monitor comes with $100 3D glasses. Sooo...
Read the article, there's a lot more technical information on game development than what you seem to be taking from the first sentence.
If you take a look at the article, you'll see that Tamasi had slides comparing the Xbox 360 to 2015 predicted technology. See that insane gap? Maybe I should title this "NVIDIA Flaunts PC Gaming Superiority" :P
Source?
Correct, but it was released as a tongue-in-cheek poke at everyone for April Fools :)
Agreed! I can't wait to find out more. He really didn't want to move on the gels, though :)
Co-op looks sweet. Sounds like the destruction is a bit on the comical side, which is perfect for a game like Portal.
Don't limit yourself to a small channel of devices. Brand loyalty and fanboyism will only be a detriment to the open mindedness of the gaming industry and your ability to absorb information and learn from a wide array of different experiences. I should also note that games are made on computers, and while they are occasionally ported over, this openness means modding and increased longevity for games.
I personally prefer WD, but we all have our loyalties to different brands for different reasons. You're right about the gain being minimal, but when it comes down to something as uncontrollable as brand loyalty, go with what suits you.
Out of my own interest, can you provide a link to the drive you're talking about? I'd like to use it in my next build :)
Also, can you approve this story (if you haven't already)? Some guy keeps reporting it for...
Did you happen to look at the cache and the fact that it is SATA 6Gbp/s? The one you're talking about is a 32MB cache drive at SATA 3Gbp/s.
They phased out P4s like 5 years ago... just sayin'
This is hardly journalism; it's sensationalism.
Horrible editing. Why was this approved? People need to learn to use apostrophes properly.
@Dylantalon1 As stated thoroughly stated in the article, it could easily last 3-5 years if you treat it right. Remember to keep the fans clean, do some good cable management, and you'll be just fine.
I'm glad N4G has stooped to approving announcements about announcements.
Kudos.
I had tried it in Opera earlier, but I just updated it and can view it now. I guess the older version of Opera didn't like it for some reason.
Anyway, not that I can see it, nice post :)
Give me a shout on my article if you need any help with it :) I am more than happy to help you customize your build list if you drop me a line with your budget and goals!
