Now I don't know how many people will click to read this based on my title but it's pretty indicative of what the content will be about. Now before we go on let me warn you I AM GOING TO SPOIL THE ENDING TO BIOSHOCK INFINITE BURIAL AT SEA EP 1 & 2.
If you played it or have no plans to ever play it then let's get started.
I loved my time with Bioshock Infinite and thought it was a fantastic game so great it was worth my number 4 spot in my top 5 best games off all time behind Snake Eater, RE4 and TLoU. So when DLC was announced I was on that quicker than Speedy Gonzalez when he found out he owed years of child support to all the female mice he had been with.
I paid $20 for the season pass and speculated what would the DLC be about, who will we be playing and where and then they came out and I knew it was a return to Rapture and we were still using Booker & Elizabeth. Now I had gripes with this cause I wanted the series to get past Rapture but when I played both Ep 1 & 2 that sentiment was flushed away.
After finishing the first part I was left wanting more not knowing where the story was heading and had several questions regarding what I just experienced like why was there still a Comstock and why did Elizabeth go through all this to just have him be killed?
So when playing Episode 2 I was ready for answers and I got some but not all, while the question of why was there still a Comstock wasn't answered the rest where and I loved my time playing as Elizabeth through Rapture to save one little girl and find out what drove her.
The last 20 minutes of this DLC felt like a feel trip cranked to 11 even bringing me to tears at the simple imagine of an injured Big Daddy being healed by two little sisters and then embracing them in a loving fashion. With the ending being the heart clenching, tear jerker moment for me as I sat there feeling like Alfred at the end of Dark Knight Rises as he faces the Wayne family grave.
My time with Burial At Sea was nothing short of great BUT and here's come the long awaited rant you've been waiting for, Burial At Sea is the worst example of a DLC and a kick to the gut to anyone who paid full price for Bioshock Infinite.
This has nothing do with the length of Burial At Sea but in that after playing it I realized Burial At Sea was the true ending to Bioshock Infinite. The main game on its own felt like its own almost unrelated thing next to the original Bioshock while still making it feel part of the same universe especially with the ending.
Sadly Burial At Sea turned what was it's own thing into Bioshock Zero, Burial At Sea went in with the intent of bridging Infinite with 1 and it become clear that BAS is a crucial piece of lore.
This upsets me because had I chosen not to get it I would miss out on crucial pieces of content, now time to make a comparison, The Last of Us Left Behind was also a story DLC featuring a major character of the main game. The differences however is while the story in Left Behind was a big part of lore it wasn't a crucial one.
You could not play it and still get the full The Last of Us experience, Left Behind was just an added experience to help make you appreciate the core experience. BAS however it is a different situation as it not a companion piece but a continuation of the same core experience and to know I had to pay an extra $20 to get the "real" ending makes me upset that it happened.
Anyway that's my rant, I still love Burial At Sea Episode 1 & 2 and think its a great piece of content as far as quality goes but recommending it doesn't feel like its based on that. The recommendation to Bioshock fans is not one of because its great but because you need it to know the full story.

Reanimal is a horror story, a journey through hell made up of the simple, elegant gameplay that Tarsier has honed to a feather's edge over the last decade.
Booker is Comstock. I'm sorry but I couldn't tell by your blog if you understood that. If you did sorry. I personally thought BSI wrapped the story up in the main game. Good read.
