Asura's Wrath is like God Of War?

After the initial reveal of Asura's Wrath, many gamers (GOW fanatics) began saying that it was a God of War rip off. They cited that Asura's Wrath contained (what Jaffe has referred to as) on screen mini-games. Thus making it a clone or rip off of God Of War, when it's not! One can say the development team was inspired by God Of War, but that's it! A lot of these "fanatics" believe that God Of War was the first game of it's kind, when it's not! Before God Of War, there was Devil May Cry, which is where God Of War is derived from! These "fanatics" could care less though! This question is not answered as easily for some as it is others. Therefore, I will breakdown, why Asura's Wrath is not a God Of War rip off and or clone!

When one says a game is like another there are many factors that come into play, the 1st being the actual gameplay. Therefore asking this question is the most important,so does Asura's Wrath play like God Of War? No, it doesn't. If you look at Asura's Wrath's gameplay video's, you will note the gameplay is far different than God Of War's. Yes, there are "on screen mini-games" (i.e. quick time events) but they are so far advanced of God Of War's, thus they've been expanded on! In the same way God Of War expanded on what Devil May Cry started! If anyone at Santa Monica studios says they didn't use DMC as inspiration for GOW their lying because it's evident that they used DMC as the foundation for GOW.

This is the exact same issue Dante's Inferno had when it came out, which in it's case, is true! I mean both God Of War III and Dante's Inferno play EXACTLY the same. Everything from battle mechanics down to taming and riding beast! In fact, the development team was asked the very question of were they inspired by GOW, to which they blatantly lied and said "No, we haven't even seen it" lol really? any real gamer knows the truth! Anyways, this is the point I'm trying to make here, when two games play the same as one another, then it can be said it's a rip off and or clone!

In a true comparison of the two games, what do they really have in common, besides the obvious, (i.e. quick time events, similar atmospheres) nothing, the gameplay style varies greatly! That's really what this comes down to and if any gamer is familiar with "Clover Studios" they will have or should have noted what Asura's Wrath is actually like and that is "God Hand"! The gameplay mechanics are identical, they've just been expanded upon, making it possible for Asura to do the things he does! Asura's R2 burst rapid button press, is equivalent to gene's rapid button presses in God Hand! Thus the answer is finally revealed, Asura's Wrath is like God Hand, not God Of War!

The game is looking good GoW comparisons or not.

xPhearR3dx5246d ago

Not really. Played it at a Capcom press event. Rather meh.

LightofDarkness5246d ago

Looks more Japanese, which means it'll be much crazier and more exaggerated. I'm going to be laughing my ass off while I'm playing this, and that's a good thing.

Been saying the same thing about GoW and DMC for years.

all games copy something like a movie or past game

.
Have similarities in some parts.

Kratos' pissed, Asura's pissed.

Greek Gods, Hindu Gods.

Both have divine powers.

Quick Time Events.

Asura's could stand as it's own game.

But it gave me impressions that, this game is a Japanese Shonen-fied with manga spirits of God of War ideas & concept.

Berserk5245d ago

Well said. I am getting the game, GOW rip-off or not.

Krew_925245d ago

That's one twisted picture you have there. Sort of creepy too. Never would think of combining the new Dante with Kratos, LOL.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9217d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit17d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing17d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9217d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
