The beta testing for Aion has begun (or has been going for a month or so, depending on your location) and for players of Warhammer Online (and no doubt various other MMORPGs) the decision to play another game will be on the minds of many.
Being a one year veteran of Warhammer Online, I've reached the heights of what I can do in the game including pillaging the Vulture Lord tomb in Land of the Dead and er... well, there isn't alot more to do once you've conquered that other than continue down the RvR road and/or PvE'ing your way to a repetitive existence.
Whilst I have had some amazing fun times in Warhammer Online, I'm getting to the point now where I haven't logged on in days, all the regular 'hardcore' players that used to play daily have disappeared, open RvR combat rarely occurs and the pop rate for scenarios is so low, you'll be lucky to get one in a half hour duration on my server.
My only options are to play on another server (which I have already started doing) or play another MMORPG. I'm still paying for the service to play Warhammer and I know alot of people (at least 20+ players) that have either left the game due to boredom or lack of interest, re-rolled another character on another server or have stopped playing Warhammer completely to beta test Aion.
I have acquired a beta key to play Aion and my first day of gaming was today. Whilst I can't comprehensively compare a game that I have played for a year to a game that is in beta, the subtle differences in areas such as character creation, movement, class structure and general gameplay mechanics are already becoming apparent.
Once I've managed to level a character in Aion, perhaps join a guild/clan and begin my journey down the arduous road that leads to better gear and character progression, I'll be better suited to make the final decision as to what the fate of my Warhammer Online characters (and account) will be.
Playing on a US server in Warhammer (currently, I play on an Oceanic server) has given me a well-needed boost of faith that Warhammer retains some very solid areas of gameplay that are well worth paying for to enjoy. If you're the type of gamer that lives for RvR (PvP) gameplay as I do, the only viable option is to defect to another server (as I did) and begin all over again. The pace of the game is alot faster and action-packed with scen pops every minute and consistent 24/7 open RvR action to get stuck into. But to level to 40 all over again just to have fun in the game seems like alot of work.
There is a wide variety of pros and cons I still need to consider before I make the final decision. But I am ready to experience all I can to ensure I make a sound decision before throwing away yet another year of my gaming life (and some pretty kick ass characters I've come to really enjoy playing).
Is anyone else having the same dilemma with MMORPGs they're playing? Let me know, I'd be keen to hear about it.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The charity event will be streamed live from Gamescom in August.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.
