Twizel. Is your x360 a launch model?. Do you know if the new falcon chip fixed the problem?. I am planning to get one when MS gets the failure rate to acceptable levels. The warranty is not an option for me as i live in the south pacific. My friends sen't his x360 to repair and it took 3 months to get it fixed and sent back.

Edit: My friend bought his from Australia where he sent it to be fixed.

Assassin's Creed didn't kill the 360. You got a RROD and it's just coincidental that you were playing AC at the time it happened. Stop spreading LIES!

turn on your brother 360 for about 30 min even with the RROD, after the 30 min turn it off and wait about five min. Then turn it on and see if it works. Mine has this treatment and is working fine. mine have RROD playing sega rally evo.

I think you just need to call microsoft and have your XBOX 360 replace. I'm sure those with new falcon chipset won't have this problem.

I've had my ebay 360 for a year. I got it for cheap b/c it has minor issues, BUT, i take it out of my ent. center and lie it on the floor, not standing up, out in the open, fresh air,

AND, i've never even had 1 freeze or 1 DDE... So, what is it that makes some people get 3 RROD's, and i have a beater 360 which i baby, and never even a glitch???..
(my 360 has disc tray issues btw, but, i learned a technique for it, works every time, :-)

was your 360 standing up by any chance?? less airflow this way,,,, Do you keep it out in fresh air, or is it tucked away???

I don't get it, i know the thing has issues, that's why i take the steps i do, and so far no problem (knocks on wood)...

Seriously. I know what the problem is. The problem is one of the reason's why I no longer support the MS rip off machine, and its flawed, defective architecture. The 360 uses a unified memory architecture between its GPU/CPU. In simple terms, this means both processors, instead of working independantly, share the same resources. This poses a serious problem, since the 360 does not use L2 cache (to store instructions and alleviate taxing the CPU) for its CPU microprocessor. So, with a game like AC, which obviously must tax or workhorse the CPU with heavy instructions- does not leave a lot of resources for the GPU to work with....the result...intense heat.

The problem with is not with the game, sort of...but with the heat being produced by the GPU because of it. I haven't played AC yet, but it must be, indeed, graphics and instruction intensive. Your 360 must have already had cracked, broken, or very weak solder joints on its pin connectors to the GPU (a result of intense heat and the precipice to RROD). Games with lots of graphics that make the GPU work hard cause said heat to build up faster. Experiment this, like I did...pop in Gears of War and feel how hot you system is after 20 or so minutes. Then, let it cool down...and pop in Halo 2. Halo 2 will give you no problems with heat, and was the one good game I knew I could play on 360 without any RROD problems. I do not recommend the towel trick, it will eventually burn up your 360's processor- the end result of which will be a system that will forever boot up with nothing but 3 red lights, not even a boot up screen-, in short, a brick. I much more recommend googling "heat gun fix, 360," and doing that. Be sure to scrape the ridiculous thermal pad out from underneath your two heatsinks, and replace it with some fresh artic silver thermal paste from your closest computer store. Keep in mind the heat gun fix should keep you running without a towel for 1-3 months, but it isn't a permanant fix...and playing highly graphics intensive games, like AC, will make that span much shorter. Your bet is to just send it in to MS and let them fix it. But this is why AC caused RROD to your machine. If you experience the problem again after MS returns your console, which is highly likely, and you must indeed have a 360, make sure to get the new Falcon chipset. An article was posted on this site yesterday explaining how to identify the new Falcon 360's without taking the system out of the box. BTW, I would get moving on this right away, because even if there is no RROD for another 3 months (there probably will be), the fact that it has already happened means that it WILL return again, and it will get progressively worse.

First one conked off after 3 months. Bought a new one during that period and that lasted till last month 1 1/2 years. Now have to ship it to germany for free replacement/repair. Currently back on the first system.

I still love it and will not change it with the pOS3.

Why don't you guys CHILL and relax with telling the world what stories should be approved or not, if this is a BLOG or not. Face the facts and that is there are alot of people going through this RRod and its a shame that with all these amazing games getting released and that includes Mass Effect how would you feel if your system crashed and your in the middle of hmm let's say Mass Effect cuz its a very long game and a very interesting game at that and you decided to play for a longer length of time and then your beloved 360 crashes, "Well its ok because I have a three year warranty" you know what Microsoft can shove their warranty where the sun don't shine cuz I just lost out playing such a wonderful game. What good is a three year warranty if it ruins your holidays.

I'll wait for the jsper then. I fell sorry for your brother though. No gamer should experience this. However this just shows that x360 has very,very good games that some people actually put up with 3 failed console just to play them. If more x360 fans are like you then perhaps MS would have fixed the problem by now. As for AC. This is one other reason not to buy it for my PS3 then.
