Xbox Live director of programming Larry Hryb says that the new downloadable Xbox 1 games due to go live on 4th December will not have unlockable Achievements and Gamerscore.
Not that we really expected they would, but it's always nice to get some clarity. "These are the original games that were created before Xbox 360. In order to preserve the integrity of the original gaming experience they provide, they will have the features available at the time of their initial release," a statement posted on his blog explains.
"Would it have been cool? Sure it would...but as many folks have noted, for a variety of reasons it's just not possible."
The downloadable games - called "Xbox Originals", which makes us want to sit by fireplaces giving sweets to children - will cost 1200 Microsoft Points (GBP 10.20 / EUR 13.96) and the initial line-up consists of Halo, Crimson Skies, Psychonauts, Fuzion Frenzy, Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex and Burnout 3: Takedown.
Microsoft has already admitted that some of the games have minor bugs relating to the struggle to emulate them. Additional titles will be added further down the line. Indeed, we're told this is "only the beginning". heres the link: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=87612

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The charity event will be streamed live from Gamescom in August.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.
And you know why they don't want to do any kind of improvements to these games: time and money. They don't want to have to pay people to recode these games to run natively on the 360 and give them improvements, when they already have the emulation of these titles mostly done. Nor do they wish to pay people to spend time adding new content to these games. I'm sure most purists wouldn't be mad if the games were improved somewhat. I wouldn't complain about better framerates and the like. But, this is good for one reason I find: no need for me to go out and buy these new versions. All my old original Xbox gamese will run just fine and almost exactly like the downloadable versions, giving me no reason to buy any expcept maybe games I do not already own.
