A return to Stilwater remains on the cards in 2008; THQ announces new vehicles and a full online 2-player co-op Campaign...
THQ has today confirmed further details on Saints Row 2, the follow up to the 2006 open-world Xbox 360 title. Returning to the city of Stilwater, Saints Row 2 is being described by the publishers getting '...set to revolutionize player freedom and open world online game play...' with a full two-player co-operative Campaign, additional multiplayer gametypes, and an expanded gameworld based years after the original.
Further character customisation and a host of new vehicles including planes, helicopters, motorbikes, and speedboats, are all set to make it into the final game, which is pencilled in for release in 2008.
"Saints Row set the bar for next-gen open-world development, earning praise for its unmatched customization, controls, and the genre's first-ever online multiplayer," said Scott Guthrie, executive vice president, THQ. "The team at Volition, Inc. is leveraging invaluable experience gained on Saints Row to build Saints Row 2 into a game that sets the standard for combat, player freedom, customization, vehicle game-play, team-based co-op and the most compelling online open world experience to date."
"Saints Row 2 has a much darker and more sinister story that leads your character down a path of betrayal, revenge and redemption against the city that has left him for dead, although we've blended that with the same light-hearted humor from the original," said Greg Donovan, lead producer, Volition, Inc. "Couple that with the most robust open-world feature set ever developed in the genre, and Saints Row 2 promises a gaming experience that will offer players the perfect balance of gripping narrative and compelling gameplay options." here is the link http://www.totalvideogames.com/news/THQ_Confirms_Saints_Row_2_Fully_Co-op_12155_6646_0.htm
