Can Destiny beat Halo?

Recently, Bungie unveiled their brand new video game titled Destiny. If you guys do not know, Bungie were the original creators of the gaming franchise, Halo. After their final Halo game creation, Halo: Reach, they left their whole universe in the hands of Microsoft at the end of 2010 which then formed 343 Industries. 343 Industries is a growing company with over 200 hard workers, and they already shipped two games in the last two years. Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary, a remake of the original classic by Bungie, and Halo 4, following after the events of Halo 3. Halo 4 hit big on it's opening week with over 3.8 million units sold, last November.

On the right is an in-game screenshot of Destiny.

Halo is a known name to gamers everywhere. It's popularity is close to Call of Duty's. One of the reason's Halo is so amazing is because of it's storyline. It's vast, endless universe and its huge lore is just amazing. Destiny is apparently supposed to have a great storyline. But will it match up to Halo's?

Many people do not believe Bungie will ever make a game that will get as popular as Halo even though they are the creators. Destiny, although looking similar to Halo, is just Destiny to gamers. When people hear Destiny, they'll ask, "What's that?". Halo's name is up in our memories and will always be. Destiny, I think, will not reach over top of Halo. Not trying to be biased since I am a big Halo fan myself, but I just feel it won't like every other sci-fi shooter out there. Don't get me wrong, it looks amazing and Bungie seems to be stepping in the right direction, but Halo is what everyone knows!

Since Halo 4 hit sky high with ratings, Halo is still marching on it's path with a new creator. Bungie needs to bring Destiny out with a bang. If Destiny flops, Bungie flops. This is their time to shine coming out of the den, with creating something new and original, with a storyline people will dive into much like Halo's, and a nice competitive multiplayer that won't make people toss their controller or sell the game. This is your time Bungie.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit18d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
