No, I'm not bashing it. Actually, I don't know what I think of it yet - after all, not many PS2 HD Collections or remakes have been released from Sony - but why? Look at the success of the God of War Collection, that was even timed perfectly with the release of its PS3 debut! It was popular and was rumored to be a big selling point for the PS3. Backwards Compatibility was out the window, as many systems could either play all, play only PS1, play only PS2, or neither. It was all in jumbles, and the thought of re-buying PS2 games because the system wasn't able to play them put people off the idea. After all, Backwards compatibility was undoubtingly one of the top 5 reasons for buying a PS2. Without that feature being consistant in all variations and models of the PS3, it pretty much became one of the reasons NOT to own a PS3. Then the God of War collection came and dazzled us by showing what could be done to upgrade your old run-down PS2 graphics - and even add great features like trophy support! This told us that even if we had the PS2 version of a game, the HD collection was a completely new experience. The next big announcement in this category had to be the Sly Cooper HD Collection. It brought back nastolgic moments for fans of the series, and they can barely wait! Then they doubled the surprise by announcing later that Ico was getting the HD collection treatment!!
Fans of the series - put on your party hats! These new games will be entirely improved beyond their already perfect selves - it could even be thought of as a seperate game if this gets any more publicity! Something tells me this is only the beginning: imagine if they did this as a monthly deal: revamped graphics, entire series and trilogies all packed into one mighty, powerful package! I would certainly go for it. Not sure that it will take over the ENTIRE PS2 library, but you see where I'm coming from here. Everyone will definately have ONE request to bring to the table, as the PS2 was clearly the widest spread console at one point. Personally, collections like Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Kingdom Hearts, Tomb Raider - all of these would make my year. Why shouldn't Sony embrace their previous console, like they have done with the PS1? I know some people still own the PS2 as their main console, but they have to update sooner or later - the PS2 was a classic in the eyes of millions - they would be giving the consumers what they want.
Who knows how far this new phase will go? After all, Sony have cautioned us to expect a LOT more PS2 collections in the not-too-distant future. Also, Sega Dreamcast games are to be making their debut on PSN and XBLA, and many developer companies are returning to the old-school 2D format - gaming is becoming more nastolgic than ever, and now is the perfect time to reminisce the cherished PS2 games that weren't all about graphics, or all about narratives - that console had the perfect balance that no other will ever grasp - and through rebooted collections, we can relive those epic and heartwarming moments to the max!
So, what PS2 series/game would you like to see be remade in full HD glory? Also, how widespread do you think PS2 collections will become in the future?

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream successfully migrates its brand of surreal, low-stakes chaos to the Switch with its signature quirky humor intact.

Nagoshi Studio’s YouTube channel with the Gang of Dragon trailers appears to have been removed following reports that NetEase will stop funding.
I hope we eventually get these games on PSN (just like how you mentioned Dreamcast games getting on PSN).
personally, I'm a big fan of Ps2 games. The best library for among any consoles.
Great Action games, great RPG games..
I hope to see MGS trilogy re-mastered.. among other great franchises.
I'm not really interested in single re-makes like say Nano-Breaker (great game, but with no sequel it leaves little to be desired as a remastered game).
On the other hand, a FFX and FFX-2 remastery on One Disc would be great! (throw in FF12 and we have a winner!).
Another great thing being trophies!
I love trophies.. they add soo much re-playability to my gaming.
I play my game the firs time around like I would.. w/o caring about trophies..
Once I clear the game and plan on putting it down.. I jump into trophies.
They add over 50 hours of game time on avg!
Maximum time I've put into a game would be ~600 hours.. although it really wasn't for the trophy as much as it was for the fun of it. (White Knight Chronicles! YAY)
Like you mentioned, some games like "Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Kingdom Hearts, Tomb Raider" blow most of this current gen games out of the water in terms of fun and quality. It'd be great to be able to visit them w/o a heavy setback on ur eyes.. (ps2 games DO NO look good on HDTVs =/ I have a 60gb PS3 and I've tried and tried to play Ps2 games.. but it's really not worth it with the horrible emulation.) But the HD remasteries ala GoW collection, changed my train of thought.
