Why from a real gamer?
Im not a journalist, I´m a passionate and enthusiast that is not living the fair from behind the scene but from in front, doing queues, standing in line for hours and all that jazz ;)!
Well,
so I`m in Cologne now for the GamesCom and looking forward to another 10 hours at the fair.
Yesterday was a cool day fun-wise, in fact the fair was crowded (more than last year in my opinion) and quite hot and humid (I remembered a nice air-conditioned temperature for GamesCom 2010...
By the way, my first stop was at Sony´s over 18 booth.
I´ve already played Resistance 3 and Uncharted 3 quite a bit in the last few months so I decided to focus on Twisted Metal and Starhawk.
TWISTED METAL
felt quite nice, different vehicles (cars, vans helicopters...) and the multiplayer map I played was nice too. It was basically a team based match, one player was flagged as "victim", to be destroyed, and the teams were to either destroy or protect the vehicles.
Funny enough I was the only girl around at that moment and my character was "Paris Hilton"... gosh
Anyhow, I tried a van first and it really felt clumsy, then I tried a sort of supercar which was very slick so the feeling of different vehicles was nice already.
All in all it was very smooth, good to look at, steady frame-rate.
My vote (for now): 9
STARHAWKS:
cool! The ability to create building to be used for different purposes absolutely adds to the gameplay.
Excellent graphic, nice vehicles and smooth movements. Great feeling, good animation and nice characters with the previous Warhawk feeling still there (for example when you build a garage to have a car up to 3 players can enter it). Team-play will be a must (something I personally very much enjoy in MP games).
One can tell Sony trusted the project because it really looks and feels good!
My vote (for now): 9
I then moved to THQ´s WARHAMMER 40.000: SPACE MARINE.
I got to play the multiplayer and it was fun!
I was curious to try it out and immediately jumped at the chance (their space looking as the reinforcements pod is also great looking). There´s all the Warhammer weight and feel you would expect, they really feel as weigthing tons!
Different characters and classes, jetpacks for some and different weapons, one can chose their favourite gameplay style!
We played a capture the points kind of game, I´m not sure what else is included but I´m quite sold on this!
My vote (for now): 8.5
FORZA MOTORSPORT 4
Well, it was my first time with this series (I´ve played GT quite a lot though) and I couldn´t pass that setup.
They have an awesome arcade-like seat that moves and makes you feel all the bumps of the road, quite cool and with 3 large monitors. It took almost a couple of hours to get there.
I got to drive a Subaru. The driving feeling was, obviously, quite great. Excellent sound (even with all that noise around), very good graphics and car detail.
I really had fun, an excellent experience and driving feel although it´s pretty hard to get that setup at home...
My vote (for now): 9
NEED FOR SPEED: THE RUN
I was surprised! The game looks and feel great and to be honest looks and feels "less" arcade than the latest need for speed (Hot Pursuit).
I was able to play this game only for a few minutes... and I don´t know why... Anyway this game is worth your attention.
My vote (for now): 8.5
BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY.
More than 2 hours to get to play one of mz most anticipated games of this year but I´m happy I got the change.
The city looks intriguing, lots of ups and dows, lots of riddles to explore around. The gameplay feels like the previous Batman and is very smooth. At the beginning you get to play Catwoman and she´s got very nice moves and animation!
The graphic looked pretty rough, to be honest, I remembered Arkham Asylum to be better but it´s probably not the final build, it´s the same they brought at E3.
My vote (for now): 9
Well, it´s getting late and I have to go to my second day of GamesCom 2011, I´ll write my second report this evening!

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The charity event will be streamed live from Gamescom in August.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.
good read, I can't wait for starhawk space footage to come out.
in your opinion how does forza4 stack up -from what you've seen- against it's predecessor and GT5?
Nice report. Short by writted with enthusiasm. I think you really enjoy the GamesCom. Looking forward for the others day :)
