Hironobu Sakaguchi, Why Mobile ?
HS: [in English] Ah, Kutaragi-san's architecture...seven DSPs and a low-powered CPU. I don't like the PS3's architecture.
[in Japanese] First off, with Sony, programmers want to do well and want to create good software, but Kutaragi-san makes the final call and [designs] the [hardware and software] environment himself. So that's been really challenging.
Sakaguchi may one day find himself competing against his own former franchise.
And with the Wii, the system is not that powerful, and it's not HD. But the fact is that there are not a lot of homes that have HD TVs. So I feel, for example, at my place, the screen I have is not in HD. So when I play the games, both for the Wii and 360, it's hard to tell the difference. But with the Wii, it's relatively cheaper to make. It's less costly. So that's one of the attractive things about the Wii.

Final Fantasy Creator’s New JRPG “Terra Battle” Confirmed For Mobile, Could Come to Consoles; Music by Uematsu

Square Enix on the other hand nearly bankrupt themselves trying to make a realistic JRPG on PS3 cell architecture, then decided to go for multiplatform & add 2 more sequels (xi-2, lightning returns) to recoup the losses, which they never did. Is there more Realistic JRPG than Final Fantasy XIII series on the PS3? I see None.
But Hironobu Sakaguchi's prefer a much easier approach in game development. Is Hironobu Sakaguchi a lazy developer because he avoids PS3 cell like a plague? Of course not.
He developed Lost Odyssey for Xbox 360 because Microsoft payed for it. Thanks to Unreal Engine 3 it was a graphical marvel on Xbox 360 and look as good as Final Fantasy XIII. And yet...Lost Odyssey Xbox One Remaster anyone? None? Phantom Dust gets a Remaster, where's Lost Odyssey Remaster?
Back to Mobile, simple answer easy to develop. The programming codes are many times more than the Wii and its Cheaper. Popular
ARM architecture which powers highly successful 3DS gaming console is also in popular Mobile such as Iphone, Ipad, Android
Hironobu Sakaguchi next JRPG “Terra Battle” for mobile, very probably likely funded from Hironobu Sakaguchi's own pocket.
“Terra Battle” for Mobile, is Cheap to develop, is Easy to Develop, Low risk, High returns.
last generation JRPG was not dead, they simply moved to Nintendo. Will Greatest JRPG of this generation / moved to Mobile / Stay on Nintendo / gain the courage to be dedicated for the PS4?
PS4 utilizes an easy game development environment computer architecture, x86-64. Reflecting PS4 specification, it has more than enough power to play today's mobile games. Terra Battle be made available on Playstation Network could very well happen.
"it's a Mobile Game, it must be bad" stigma is waning, Mobile game developer is making progress. Modern Mobile Phone hardware uses very similar ARM cpu architecture as 3DS & Vita. Plus Sony Xpreria Z2 spec is very close to PS Vita.
Is it the low-end Graphics, the Sprite, the Low Poly Character Models, the compressed audio that makes a Mobile Game bad? It's the game world that makes JRPG great(regardless low-end Graphics, the Sprite, the Low Poly Character Models, the compressed audio).
I never played Final Fantasy VI, III on Nintendo Entertainment System, but I greatly enjoyed it on Sony Xperia Mobile (never cared about the low-end Graphics, the Sprite, the Low Poly Character Models, the compressed audio, etc).
There are many People are okay with future JRPG looking like the original Final Fantasy VI, but not on mobile, only home console. I still can't comprehend that Logic.
Probable Reason why many people bash Hironobu Sakaguchi for developing a mobile game, is that they want a much Grandiose Vision in new JRPGs(Graphically speaking).
The cost to produce such JRPG still persist. Home console development is getting easier as time passes, so does mobile. There would be time in the future game developer could afford to realize JRPG with much Greater Vision and Hironobu Sakaguchi would be in the forefront. For now, let the guy collect the money, the skill for that vision. Support the developer, Buy 'Terra Battle' and patiently awaits the Greatness.
Closing, My Sony Xperia Z is ready for Hironobu Sakaguchi's next JRPG "Terra Battle".

Terra Battle Characters

Bravely Default available on Nintendo 3DS, a mobile gaming console powered by an ARM cpu architecture, an architecture commonly found in today's Android & IOS mobile. That's one factor why nintendo 3DS is selling so well.

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The charity event will be streamed live from Gamescom in August.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.
Your blog does nearly nothing to address the point you're trying to make, and you started it off quoting your response to my response to you saying the reason Sakaguchi didn't want to develop for the PS3 was because he didn't like Kutaragi. I provided proof of that to you, but instead of accepting that as the truth you decided to stick to your original point and make a poorly written blog about why Sakaguchi isn't developing on Playstation consoles. Oh wait, sorry, it was supposed to be about why he's making a mobile game... except you spent an awful lot of time with PS3 complaints.
