If you thought you were addicted to FarmVille, think again. According to The Guardian, a women (who wishes to remain anonymous) discovered her son had spent £900 on FarmVille items, without her permission.
The boy allegedly spent £288 of his own savings, and user his mother's credit card to the remaining tune of £625.
"The first use of my card was on 14 March. I discovered it on the 29th and the card was stopped at that point. Any transactions after that date were already in the system, so what I thought was a £427 spend turned into £625 over the next few days, the mother said.
"The total spend is about £905, but the credits are still rolling in. Facebook and [game creator] Zynga will not refund anything as [the son] lives in my house. Facebook has disabled his account and Zynga has unhelpfully suggested I use password protection on computers in the future."
When the son was confronted about his FarmVille spending spree, he simply said Zynga had brought out 'good stuff that I wanted'. The parent believes he knew exactly what he was doing, and to be fair, we are inclined to agree. Most kids are probably more technologically minded than adults these days.
A spokeswomen for the bank HSBC said that had the credit been used on a gambling site, it would've been picked up as "unusual usage," but because the transactions were for Facebook credits, even though a sizeable amount in a short space of time, it wasn't deemed suspicious.
Zynga, HSBC nor Facebook is not to blame the mother added, but, "I do think they need to shoulder some responsibility in this business and put systems in place to stop this happening again. The fact that he was using a card in a different name should bring up some sort of security and the online secure payment filter seems to be bypassed for Facebook payments."
The moral of the story? Don't give your kids your credit details, much like before. It's potentially financial suicide.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.
