I am one of the fortunate people to own a PlayStation 3 and x-box 360 and each are excellent consoles each with their pros and cons but all in all very fun and enjoyable consoles, which I admit I spend far to much time playing. However there are some PS3 and X-BOX 360 owners who see it fit to compare the two consoles and try to put them against each other which to a certain extent is fine, however some fans take it two far. I personally know fanboys as they are known on both sides and as someone who doesn't take sides it can be rather amusing to watch them pit their two consoles against each other and see who comes out top. Always the same stuff pops up x-box live costs money, ps3 has better graphics, x-box have party chat and ps3 doesn't. Well as I was saying some fans take it to far and overlook the key aim of these consoles which is to entertain and not to fuel the "Console War" which is burning down relationships between sony and microsoft forcing them to compete against each other more fiercely than is necessary and this leads to x-box getting Mw2 maps early for example and ps3 are going to get the AC:B beta and x-box aren't and this to me all seems rather unnecessary to me and to be honest I would rather we all got the betas and we all got the maps as this is hindering the very reason consoles were invented. I have seen friendships split over this "Console war" both blaming that the other console was copying there own and while all this rages on I simply say but if they are copying the idea it must have been good and so in doing so they are improving other peoples gaming experience and all I wish to see is the end of the "Console war" and to see the two consoles stop this competition. One day I naively wish that these consoles will one day put aside these differences and create a better generation of consoles which will allow all of us to have that mystical thing called FUN.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.
The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.
Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.
15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.
These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse

As for the main question...I would say they may be ruining it for themselves. They arent ruining it for me as I sometimes get a kick out of the one sided nature of their thinking.
I too own all the systems and feel it is the best way to game. Have thought that way since the NES/SMS days. I may start off a generation with one of the players and may trumpet my horn to the greatness of that platform. By the end (or sooner if funds allow) I am rooting for all the great games to be had regardless of platform.
I can respect a single sided gamers view of their own choice but prefer them not disrespect me for mine. If anything, I try to hang out and game with other "neutrals" in the gaming scene.
Competition in gaming is not going to stop. It became more prevalent when the internet gave everybody a voice. Before that you just had your own localized bickering between kids on the same block or at school. I can only imagine the kind of "console war" would be going on in the Genesis/SNES days or the 2600/Coleco/Intl days.
Mostly they're ruining the online forum experience, not gaming. However, because they play the same FPS' over and over with different textures you could say they are ruining gaming.
They do get annoying lol, both sides have a point - but they don't know when to quit. They keep annoying everyone and won't stop until they ruin LIFE as we know it :D

How can fanboys have any effect on you? What they think is irrelevant those who purchase have the power, not the fanboys who spend all their time trolling. Fanboys can destroy the flow of a legitimate forum discussion, but they can't ruin your gaming experience.
If your not a "fanboy" you should just stay out of the places the fanboys troll... Really if they ruin anything for you it's because you let them.
