Wii Ports and How They Can Be Done Right

First off I would like to say that the new N4G interface is awesome! The only problem is that I cannot delete my old blog posts, I regret my old blog posts........very badly.

Problem: Developers will change the Wii version for a unique Wii experience.

Solution: F*** that! We want the same experience as the PS3/360 versions. Or at least a very similar version.

Problem: Developers cut out modes and levels. For example CoD: WaW cuts out the rail level, Nazi Zombies and the Raygun.

Solution: Explain why you do that. Why cut that out??

Problem: This isn't really a problem, but the Wii versions of some games don't necessarily have the best controls.

Solution: Classic Controller Pro. Iwata has said that one of the purposes for the controller was well, third-party multiplatform games.

Problem: Voice Chat

Solution: WiiSpeak. It worked very well for Conduit. (soluting Shazzyone for allowing me to test that out).

Problem: Downloadable content.

Solution: I'm not 100% sure how this works, but we got a SD Card update about a year ago. Developers need to start doing DLC with the SD Card. However, I did hear that Nintendo doesn't allow add-ons to games, which if that's the case, this points out that Nintendo is ruining their online experience.

Problem: Late ports

Solution: Modern Warfare Reflex was released about 2 years later for the Wii. I can understand why Activision would be skeptical with releasing Call of Duty 4 for Wii in 2007, Call of Duty 3 sold about 1 million as a launch title. But now that has been disproven, Call of Duty and Resident Evil games for some reason sell very well on Wii. So why release a port two years late??

Problem: Crappy co-op. Notably WaW, where there are two cursors on the screen at once. That's co op.

Solution: Why??? Split-screen can be done on Wii, so why make it a rail-shooter for the second player. It's not at all realistic nor innovative.

Problem: Wii Zapper is a hideous abomination for FPS games on Wii.

Solution: Since the Wii Zapper is only decent for light-gun games, well, never implement it again. Replace the Wii Zapper with Classic Controller or GameCube controller support.

This is all I can list right now. Let's hope Black Ops on Wii corrects these problems.

Saros Review – Sun’s Out, Guns Out | Press Start

Press Start: "Saros is an utterly sizzling romp through a sci-fi cosmic horror show that showcases Housemarque’s pedigree for spectacular, arcade action. Not only is Saros a user-friendly evolution of Returnal's core systems, which were already near-perfection, but it’s an exceptional, technical showpiece for a console that makes faultless performance seem magical. If Returnal was a reason to invest in next-gen, Saros pays that belief off again in what is currently a one-horse race for Game of the Year."
