Why Does Everyone Want MadWorld on PS3 and 360????

OK, it seems that before MadWorld was released, Wii-haters said that the game was going to suck, because it was on the Wii. Now when the game was released, the reviews came in, and the Wii-haters started to say "I wish this game was on PS3" and "This game would sell much better on PS3/360". My response was "It is never coming to PS3/360. Just wait for Bayonetta". Now the Wii-haters want this game, even though they thought it would suck.  Here is my response.

I keep hearing people say, this would sell much better on PS3/360. My response is, especially when the NPD data came in is that Wii games sell much slower. Call of Duty World at War sold 40,000 in it's opening week (WORSE than MadWorld) and as of April sold 1 million. Seeing how that is 6 months, it proves that MadWorld will hit at least 1 million by September. The Wii has a hardcore audience:

 Game

 Sales

 Resident Evil 4

1.55 million

 Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles

1.25 million

 Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

1.22 million

 Red Steel

 1.18 million

Call of Duty 3 (yes 3)

1.15 million

Call of Duty: World at War

1.09 million

House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return

960,000

(note that this is the worst table software of all time, sorry N4G admins. Well, I am the first user on this site to use it, so someone give me bubbles! TEEHEE!)

My second rant is that people thinks the game needs HD graphics. My response to that is that "graphics don't matter that much in a game" and it is all about the gameplay. The gameplay in MadWorld, the motion controls, are what set the game apart from other games. That is why the game is so good, the controls.

Another thing is that the game is black and white, why would you need HD graphics. Come on, 1080p for a game that doesn't even use color. And who would want to make it realistic. That would get Jack Thompson's panties in a bunch (OK, I had to say that). The game is meant to be a manga styled game.

If you really want a stylized game, wait for Bayonetta. Unlike MadWorld, it is HD, and yes, it has color.

Well, here is my 20th blog. Let the flame begin!!!

The game would best be served as a PSN/XBLA title. It's a lot of fun and excitement at first, but it gets boring quickly. Luckily, it's so short that you barely notice how bored you are before the end of the game. Your list is absolutely NO proof that MadWorld will break a million sales by September (lol), but it IS possible. Is barely breaking a million sales THAT impressive on the console with the largest install base, though? The best game on your list was easily Resident Evil 4, and that game should've have sold at LEAST 3 million. There is a hardcore audience that owns Wiis, but they are definitely the minority.

Most of these are long time franchises:

Call of duty, resident evil, house of the dead, and Star Wars

Only Red Steel went that far, and that's understandable since it was a launch title and was very hyped by Ubisoft.

butterfinger6147d ago

Now please compare that to games like Mario Kart and Wii Fit's sales. Did I say nobody buys hardcore games on the Wii, or did I say they are the minority?

Wii Fit 18.27m
Mario Kart Wii 15.63m

Wow, Resident Evil Wii has sold quite impressively compared to those right? Wrong.

SpoonyRedMage6151d ago

Well I think part of the problem is that the massive install base is slightly infalted and the people who complain about the lack of hardcore games are the ones that sold their Wii and then complain that games lke Madworld are Wii-exclusive.

It all comes down to a sense of entitlement which it seems a lot of hardcore gamers have. Devs/Pubs have little to no obligation to gamers and they can put games on whatever system they want.

Cajun Chicken6151d ago

Because its completely brutal. The Wii controls make the game, so if Madworld turned up on PS3/360, it'll have to be a whole new entry in the franchise and maybe have additional graphic effects over the black and white, because you just KNOW people are going to complain about a black and white next gen game.
Great game though. Hope for the future of the sideway beat 'em up.

Chubear6150d ago

..no one complained about Echochrome though.

Cajun Chicken6150d ago

True. I loved Echochrome.
If Madworld AS A FRANCHISE did go next gen (I hope it does, lot of potential in the 'universe') basically, I think it'd probably need more shading, just to use that extra power the PS3 and 360 have.

Personally, I'd love separate Madworld franchise games like the biking and the Bloodbath Challenges, ironically, Madworld has the perfect background and sense of fun to make it a completely OTT, brutal, violent competitive minigame fest.

easywilly6150d ago

It's a good game...why limit it to just one console when it can easily be on all 3. This is what I dont get what do developers gain from exclusivity??? Thats less money for them isnt it?? When ff13 was announced for the 360 I wasnt dissapointed at all, and Im a ps3 guy. This whole exclusive stuff is ridiculous. Its basically created fan-boyism. The only reason a game should be exclusive is if its only possible on a specific console. Other than that share the love you retarded developers.

SinnedNogara6149d ago

I actually think they save money and time because of the costs of porting it over to other systems, which is expensive. You could get more money though.

misterssippi6150d ago

Firstly, Madworld is not a great game... its an ok game. The gameplay is repetative and meh, the character models are blah, game modes are lacking and controls are not responsive. Not many PS3/360 gamers are interested honestly. Secondly, the game failed. Get over it. Like most hardcore games fail on Wii. Selling 1 million copies on a system with a 60 million install base is no big accomplishment. When Gears came out, 360 had a 10 million install base. Gears sold 5 million... see the difference. The only successful Wii games have either 'Mario' or 'Wii' in the title. No mas Nintendo, no mas.

SinnedNogara6149d ago

The PS2 sold 150 million units, and their most selling game sold 12 million.

Which means that 139 million people don't own the game.

The game is GTA: San Andreas.

Microsoft Xbox 3606148d ago

LOL @ the desperate Nintendo fanboy. PS2's game library runs circles around the Wii's. 12 million sales is a lot for a 3rd party game. Don't forget GTA:SA was a multiplatform game.

"This is an Xbox" campaign was Sarah Bond's idea and many at Xbox hated it

Sarah Bond's "Xbox everywhere" strategy and controversial "This is an Xbox" campaign have been blamed for alienating Xbox employees and failing to deliver results, with multiple sources telling they're relieved by her departure.

Lightning7711h ago

This adds more clarity to the situation. She was in charge of marketing so I 100% do. Believe this was her. The fact that she pissed off a lot of ppl with this campaign was interesting. The kicker she kicked you out if you questioned her moves. Sounds like a Satya move to me.

Ok when it comes to the marketing of the Xbox maybe not get rid of where Xbox is at but advertise the console, bundle 1 month of GP and have "xbox everywhere" as a side thing or just a minor thing. It's too late for Series consoles but do this with their next console. If GP is 30$ this needs to justified ASAP put all of ABK. Remake remaster popular games and put those out on the service. Have a handful of AAA games come day one even. Perma exclusivety is dead however they can be timed. The would at least give ppl a somewhat of a reason to invest. Satya will not allow permanent exclusives again.

Do I still think Xbox is dead? Depends, how much will Satya not get involved and let Asha and Matt figure something out. The more I think about it, I think Satya only really gets involved if the financials aren't lookin so hot. I think Xbox going multiplat was a result of wanting make their money back from ABK and of course raise their unreasonable and near unrealistic margins.

Anyway, things did get interesting and adds nuance just how Xbox is ran.

-Foxtrot3h ago

I’ve read that article they put out on this and it just sounds like a massive hit piece on her. They’ve basically thrown her under the bus.

I highly doubt all of this was just her idea, especially the multiplatform stuff.

Ever since the Zenimax and Activision deal all eyes have been on the Xbox department. There’s no way she’d have acted alone with decisions as big as these, Phil Spencer and Satya Nadella would have been all over this aswell, especially with them both being higher than her.

When they brought her in I thought to myself she’d be used as a scape goat and here we are.

It’s the exact same thing they did when Don Mattrick left “oh it wasn’t our idea, it was all Don, our new leader Phil Spencer is a gamer and will turn things around”.

lodossrage3h ago

Exactly, they always have to pin it on someone. Everything was Don Mattrick's fault before. Now everything is Sarah Bond's fault.

People act like these companies don't have focus groups, board meetings, focus testing, etc for these ideas before they hit.

They'd rather blame her rather than the product they asked her to market. How else was she going to market playing your xbox games on any device? Has anyone stopped to think that the marketing was bad because the product itself was bad?

But I don't feel sorry for her, she knew the kind of people she was working with

darthv721h ago

Would it still be a hit piece if it was actually true? If she really was behind the whole everything is an xbox... then I say they took the chance and it didnt pay off. Most companies let people go over bad decisions like that.

lodossrage1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

That's just it darth72, it more than likely isn't the truth because we know she didn't have control over everything at Xbox. That would be Phil Spencer, who has Don Mattrick's old position.

And to be fair, even he can't be blamed for everything since it's highly unlikely all this goes on without Nadella's blessing at some point

Popsicle1h ago

While I am sure she played a key role in “everything is an Xbox” it is still a hit piece. We can’t forget that Phil was in charge and at the very least gave it his blessing.

gold_drake1h ago

this was definitely Not her own idea.

phil and others had their grubby hands all over it.

i never particularly liked her cause she so lived in delulu land, but i guess she did what she could, given in the bad state xbox was and still is

PapaBop30m ago

Gamers are going to be reminiscing, over the "this is an Xbox" glory days once we get Xbox Copilot powered by AI and "the power of the AI" crap they'll be trying to shove down our throats.

Outside_ofthe_Box27m ago

So going multiplat was her idea or the marketing was the issue? If it's the latter, who cares if it was her idea or not. The decision to go multiplat is the core issue not the marketing. The marketing I guess kept it from being a "mystery" on whether or not a game was exclusive or not.
