Are gaming leaks/announcements before E3 good or Bad?

Hello,

I have been a gamer for over 25 years. E3 is a time when most of us are quite excited about the endless big announcements of some of our Favorite games or new IP's. Last year IMO was really good E3 because both MS and Sony brought their A games. MS i believe had one of the strongest E3's in xbox brand history. Sony on the other hand dropped some Megaton's that many of us Believed were only pipe dreams with no real shot of actually happening

This past week has brought many announcements and Leaks. I think in some cases announcing a game is a good thing and in some cases it makes for a less fun/exciting E3

Few years ago Watch Dogs was the game that stole the show and now we already know about the sequel
Rumors suggested a world war 1 Battlefield and that's been confirmed
Titanfall 2 has been confirmed(atleast we will see more at e3 and there wasn't an event beforehand to expose everything)
Skyrim HD has all but confirmed
Sony came out to confirmed no ps4k at E3
horizon zero down trailer before e3
mafia 3 trailer before e3
dues ex trailer
injustice 2 trailer
GT:sport gameplay reveal before e3
The Technomancer e3 trailer
for honor e3 trailer
crackdown 3 teaser site up and running before e3
destiny expansion leak/reveal before e3
dead rising 4 leaked

Think about it E3 is hours away now and so much is already known. I think it takes away from E3 experience. in some cases it is a good thing because some games would just get lost in shuffle or won't get as much attention(some smaller titles)

I think it would be a much better experience for gamers if games were held back until e3 so to make it more interesting

BTW: these so called industry insiders become mega celebrities before E3. Shinobi's name has been everywhere. he has been doing rounds on different sites(via articles)or podcasts

Gamers wants rumors and sites want clickbait/rumors for hits. I mean i am only expecting maybe 6-10 total new announcements and rest of e3 conferences about already known games

What do you all think? does announcing games before E3 takes away from overall watching experience?

PS: If i have made any grammar errors i would like to apologize in advance(english isn't my 1st language)

Thank you

Leaks are bade because it ruins the surprise! Announcements are fine coming from the creators. Helps to build hype for their product.

I think rumours do bring up a lot of excitement but a lot of them do turn out to be fake including ones from Shinobi, but blatant leaks forcing announcements and confirmations from gaming companies do lessen the hype from E3 conferences like the Titanfall and Battlefield 1 teasers for EA's conference tonight. However some AAA games do get past the insiders looking for leaks and get mega hype from fans e.g. Fallout 4 last year, I think because of this I don't mind leaks as long as there are big hitters at the main conferences.

Bad, takes away the excitement for the event

showtimefolks3545d ago

just look at how many leaks are taking place today

amazing how almost 50-60% of the stuff is spoiled

BlakHavoc3545d ago

Yup. Won't be surprised if they spoil some of Sonys conference

Very bad, ruins all the buildup and leaves people disappointed.
