People who write "who won E3" articles are tools

For the past week we have been treated to 20 to 40 who won E3 articles.. some obviously biased and some not as biased but in the end biased. These articles are the kinds of things that will eventually kill E3. Why is it none of these so called “journalists” are original enough to do their damn jobs? As a game consumer I know one thing. I do not purchase the company I purchase the products of these companies. What is expected of these media members is that they tell me what games look awesome what new tech looked the nicest. Why is this so hard for these tools to understand?

Really, how many of these writers have actually released articles about a new game they previewed from a no name publisher that just might blow my mind. Where are the writers not writing the most obscenely obvious story about E3. Where are their journalistic tendencies to dig for a story?

I propose these are gone if they ever existed. In the end the whole spectacle of E3 was all advertising and if you look closely the whole culture of gaming is deeply rooted in advertising. This in no way a problem since movies and television are pretty much glorified advertising these days too.  I feel these game journalists are getting flat out lazy.  Some of these developers pay huge bucks to reserve that booth spot at E3. They have taken a risk to get the word out on their next project. A project they have worked hard on. Now it would seem that is no longer worth it. Because no one will even talk about your game unless it was shown in either Sony, Microsoft's or Nintendo's press conference... either that or EA, UBI or Activision.

The big difference between gaming and  movies is there are ways for no name individuals to get their work out there in movies. When it comes to events like E3... what’s the point... it’s essentially an corporate circle jerk where onlookers compare the sizes. People who write those awful “who won  E3” articles represent the laziest of the lazy. The ones who sat there and eagerly took notes on those companies with the biggest e-penis  either that or the ones who automatically preferred the e-penis’ that seems most attractive to them or threw the most money at them.  I apologize for the graphic imagery but this is what these “Who won E3” writers represent to me... lazy people who write half assed articles comparing sizes of shafts in a public circle jerk.

How about some digging. These “journalists” were granted exclusive access to an event most of us can only watch on tv or the internet. These writers need to use that access to find what everyone else might overlook. When it comes to the big press conferences the consumer can watch them themselves and make their own opinions on them. And there is no shortage of that, They should be spending more time looking for the stuff that none of us saw. Stuff like High voltage software's booth where they Showed a live walkthrough of the Grinder or maybe a preview into what indie devs might have at their booths. Rather then being pulled into the most obvious and easiest stories... how about these people lift their heads from closely analyzing the penis sizes of Microsoft and Sony and open them to the entire event.

Or are we gamers just so stupid we WANT these lazy tools to tell us who won . Are we really incapable of watching the debuts from our favorite companies and figuring out who had the best showing for ourselves. I would hope most of us are capable of making our own observations. So... Game Journalists.... show me what I don’t know already. It's your freaking job!

in the end, gaming journalism is what spoils gaming for us, it almost killed E3 back then, it can do it again, and worse.

I agree. But theese (pseudo)reporters are pandering to their base that's all. Alot of litle kids are insecure and don't really form opinions of their own and some need that feedback to be more secure about their opinions. What they don't realize is that they're making older gamers not take them srsly anymore. We'll see how that plays out in the future.

i am sorry, but i think you go it wrong.
one think us gamers tend to do, is forget that we are in the entertainment business.
and if our journalist don't write and spew articles that tend to our needs then what kind of entertaining business are we in?
the popular magazines like usweekly and all the other foolish one do it for the movie business.
the fashion people have things like elle (my sis reads it all the time), these magazines are full of spam/advertisement/gossip and articles that state i am sure "such and such fashion is last season, this is the new thing, throw your croc sandals, buy serpent sandals"
I believe even the music business has their own specialized magazines that is full of rumors and news/articles that are meant to rally up the crowd/fans and get them excited.
don't get me wrong, i am not supporting this ideal. all i am saying, is that; we need to hold our hobby up to the same standards that we hold for other forms of entertainment.
we tend to be biggest hipocrites, unfortunately agaisnt ourselves.
again, i understand your opinion, but as my title states "i am not sure."

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit3d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing2d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster922d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
