Next Gen Ports: Why I'd Happily Buy Them

As someone who has bought a PS3 and Xbox 360 I've played my fair share of games, some of them I've loved like the Mass Effect series for example, I've had years of pleasure from my first steps on Eden Prime to the Infamous ending at the Crucible, But I've had more than enough time to enjoy myself and move on to later games. Now this is not a feeling I'm having with the likes of The Last Of Us and GTA V for example. Both are so fresh on the mind I'm not done with them by any means and there's only a few days time before the first DLC arrives from The Last Of Us and everyone including myself is gearing up for some tense and exciting gameplay/story.

With the next gen consoles arriving I purchased both the Xbox One and PS4 and I'm enjoying them both perfectly fine but there's only so much room I can find to put 4 consoles. I know a lot of people have held off buying the next gen's and are happy still using the PS3/360 but the way I see it at some point soon everyone is going to make the transition to the new consoles and they might have to do so without some of the best games the last gen produced.

And with Dark Souls 2 arriving in March it's nothing but a reminder that I need to keep my 360 around taking up space just for that and the more I think about it the more I feel I would gladly pay the £40-£50 again to have the games I love the most around on my next gen journey, the money is nothing when you think of it in terms of the fact that it's really a 5, probably 6 year investment you've made. There's no doubt in my mind if TLOU, GTAV or DS2 were on next gen I'd still be playing them in 2017-18 at least, just like I still play Mass Effect, like how I still played Dark Souls just a few hours ago. And if it can be done the way AC4: Black flag, Battlefield 4 and FIFA 14 have been done then I see no reason why we should be denied the opportunity to keep on playing these fantastic games for years to come.

Just as there are like minded people there's always someone out there with a different perspective so, Agree or Disagree? Leave a comment and let me know

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit2d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster922d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
