Dawnguard too small?

This is just a post to everyone regarding the recent Dawnguard dlc for Skyrim.

Now when Bethesda, or should I say Todd Howard. said that the dlc they produce for Skyrim would be more like expansion packs, I had in my mind a dlc that would be the size of Shivering Isles or Bloodmoon. Instead I felt personally that Dawnguard was actually quite short and though I enjoyed the story and locations I still felt too much like I was playing the original game and I'll be honest I fancied leaving Skyrim for a while.

And now with this "Hearthfire" dlc talk I'm worried the size and location will yet again let me down a little, though I still enjoyed Dawnguard I just feel it was more "Knights of the nine" sized than an expansion and I hope the next dlc is bigger and better.

There was definitely an "expansion" feeling about Shivering Isles that I really enjoyed. It took me away from Cyrodiil for a while and gave me some great, memorable characters and places to interact with, as well as a really fun story. But the most important thing about it is that it felt fresh, almost like a new game to play.

However with Dawnguard I'm feeling the whole time that I'm still in Skyrim doing normal Quests and the features of being a vampire are very fun of course but it lacks a certain..originality that I couldn't seem to get over despite how much I love Skyrim.

If you can spare the time let me know what you think as I'm not sure if it's just me having my expectations too high, which of course is a compliment to how great Bethesda are.

By around January time I'd clocked in an enormous 600+ hours of Skyrim with over 15 characters, I love the very idea of Elder Scrolls giving me a chance to get away from online multiplayer and creating a world for me to lose myself in, but unfortunately the dlc really did let me down a bit.

I actually agree with you on just about everything. Any time I talk about Dawnguard with people I refer to it as more Knights of the Nine and Less Shivering Isles. I haven't heard much about Heartfire but I'm hoping it will be a new location entirely. What I really hope is they don't release DLC like smugglers den, and wizards tower.

A few rumours here and there about Hearthfire being about necromancy and/or zombies so if that were actually true I could see it still being in Skyrim unfortunately.

I'll be honest with you I'd happily pay money if they released things like Smugglers Den and Wizards tower as long as they also bring out big expansions too.

I think it all depends on the price. I'm sure not paying $20 for smugglers den, but I would for Shivering Isles.

Yeah actually you have a very valid point there, they would have to bring out those things fairly cheap or not bother.

*Sigh* In saying that, I'd probably just buy them anyway out of my Elder Scrolls infatuation ha!

Forgot to mention in the blog that I was quite disappointed that despite playing from both the vampire and dawnguard perspective, the missions are basically identical. I mean I expected it, but hoped for better.

WiZmans World Re;Try review - ChristCenteredGamer

CCG writes - "WiZmans World Re;Try has some really interesting things going for it, and some cool mechanics and visuals that few other JRPGs do. It is clear some real care and effort went into this game. However, between the sheer amount of inevitable, unavoidable grinding; the lack of depth to most of the combat; the just-okay music and sound effects; and the moral issues that really make me question how this game got away with an E10+ rating, it's difficult for me to recommend. This is definitely a "play with a podcast or Netflix binge-session on in the background" type of game, even if you are in love with the things that make this one stand out. If that's your cup of tea, then WiZman's World Re;Try will provide 35+ hours of it for a relatively reasonable cost."
