Ever since the reveal of Xbox One, on May 21st, they have been touting the "Power of the Cloud". Although they never fully explained, what this Powerful Cloud can do. They did allude to Magical powers. Making the xone 3x, 5x, even 10x,. more powerful ,. Or comparing it to the Incredible Hulk.. All of this is Incredibly Absurd, and ridiculous.
Insomniac explains the cloud for Sunset Overdrive, this way -"Adding or changing weapons based on what players tell us is an opportunity we haven't really had during the current generation. Because if you want to put out regular updates, you have to jump through a lot of hoops. So our intent is not to just to offer new weapons, but new gameplay features that change up the environment." So , server side updates are nothing new. DICE did it with Back to Karkand, switching flag points in Conquest,. It's also how every shooter balances guns,.. It's just more streamlined now.
This is what Respawn says about the cloud -"When Respawn couldn't afford the cash or manpower to acquire the "hundreds of thousands of servers" necessary to put players in dedicated servers, "The Xbox group came back to us with a way for us to run all of these Titanfall dedicated servers" in the form of the cloud." -Again , Dedicated servers, Nothing Magical about it.
Finally Mark Cerny says this about the cloud -"It’s possible to do computing in the Cloud, PlayStation 4 can do computing in the Cloud. We do something today: Matchmaking is done in the Cloud and it works very well. If we think about things that don’t work well… Trying to boost the quality of the graphics, that won’t work well in the Cloud."
So the "Pwar of teh Clowd" is not some mythical beast, that will turn the xbox into the Incredible Hulk, Like Astro.Turfers, and fanboys would like you to believe,.. It's just a Buzz word ,. Kind of like having a sports car to make up for a small package,.. Sony has a sports car too,. Only they aren't feeling insecure, by feeling the need to drive it all over town. They'll bring it out when ready.

Don't be surprised if Resident Evil Requiem is the best game of 2026.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Dragon Pearl of Destruction gets an April 2026 release for all major consoles and PC in April 2026.
Power of the Cloud = Power of teh CELL
And I'll be mocking anyone who pins their hopes on Cloud, just like I mocked people who thought Cell was some all-powerful do-anything processor.
You seem to know an awful lot about cloud processing.
Care to explain to me in depth about why their potential load balancing algorithm couldn't work?
Could you please explain to me the dichotomy method in relation to load balancing and how it could possibly achieve results, or could not in your case?
Many thanks.
Nice blog. To me, teh power of teh cloud is just MS' way of damage controlling the Xbox One's specs because it's weaker than the PS4.
SMH. Yet another useless blog. Anyway, here is your prize.

All this anti-Xbox stuff is making me want to get one. I've always went with the underdog in the past. Might do it again. I was an Ulimate Warrior fan when everyone was a Hogan fan, Sega fan when most kids had the nes, etc...something about the underdog is cool. Like Rocky.:)
