With MGO now out, and gamers swarming to it left and right, I can only wonder if its going to be a staple in online play for years to come, or it will be a fad that lasts for a couple of months, then is tossed in the back of people’s minds. I for one, think MGO is a very innovative game, it allows so many styles of play, each one being as helpful as the other. There are some problems with the game; there are lag issues, but nothing so bad it makes the game unplayable. The SOP system is a really great asset to have in battle, which is if you can understand it. Many people either don’t bother linking up, or they simply can’t understand the fast paced signals and noises the SOP puts off. If used correctly, you can not only dominate your enemy with clever planning, but you can witness there every move (depending on if you have placed a scanner in one of your enemies).
But even if I find this game very innovative, there are tons of people out there, who just simply will not/can, not get into this game. By no means is this game Call of Duty 4. In terms of action, its 100 miles slower. But it’s heavily based on tactics, another thing people may not get. Which leads me to believe that MGO simply may not make it; With Socom coming out soon, MGO may just not be able to compete. Both being PS3 exclusives and both basing its game play heavily on the use of tactics. It leaves you to wonder, which one will draw the bigger crowd. Will the MGO elite run to Socom, or will Socom drown in the water, having no one to play it. Only time will tell, I for one will be very interested in seeing how this “battle” will turn out, I hope you guys are around to see it too.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The charity event will be streamed live from Gamescom in August.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.
I'm on the official clan representing the official forums for PlayStation UK, I have to stick to it =P But other then that, if you see my review of MGS4 here on N4G (Just look at my profile to look) or my review of Metal Gear Online or MGS4 on my site (www.gamzsonev3.blogspot.com) that Metal Gear Online is a game I'm gonna be spending all year on....that is until Gears of War 2 anyways xD
With the mix of diverse gameplay, rankings and clan ranking not to mention the skill optimization and awards , i believe it has a long life span that will develop a cult following just as the original mgo .
Truer words never spoken (Above ^^^)
The only people who thinks it is a fad are those who have not played it yet. Not many games make me reflect on our modern society after each session. If it is too confusing to follow, then you are either skipping through too many cutscenes or just not trying hard enough. And this doesn't even touch on the multiplayer component.
Well in order to be a fad it needs to be popular. Mgo servers seem to be pretty vacant. Mgo is a disappointment mainly because it is lost potential. It could have been so great but lack of Japanese Netcode coding and bad damage models held this game back.
