When it comes to Call of Duty anyway.
Cast your minds back to Call of Duty 3, the game that went one to many with the WW2 theme. When you look at Modern Warfare 3 it suffers from the same problems.
I've played COD since the COD1 days on PC and everyone since. Not all have been gems but COD3 and now MW3 are 2 outright stinkers.
The problem with MW3 is its too similar to MW2, I started it and instantly felt like I'd been transported back to MW2.
Its pretty much exactly the same only this time round, its worse. Why? The maps. They are god awful, every map is the same they're all a "MAZE".
No frontline can be drawn and your forever being shot in the back trying to work through all the intricate alleyways.
Gone are the days on long lines of sights and distinct attack and defend points, its all just a arcadey mish mash of corridors and buildings.
This isn't a war game it's Quake set in modern times.
Jumpers, proners, 360 no-scopers, last time I checked the news from Afghanistan people weren't chucking themselves off the top of buildings spinning round shooting their weapons.
It's just a big joke, the game now panders to the players we all hate, quickscopers, bunny hopping UMP's whores and campers. Activision must have done some market analysis and found that this was the area to target to get maximum profits, because lets face it, Activision aren't about making games, it's about making money. I'd like to see the figures Activision put into marketing verses actually game development!
Fine Activision if thats the way you want it go ahead, but don't expect any more of my money, I'm going to go back to BF3 and Skyrim thank you.
MW3 is only the second COD game I've traded, COD3 was the first. The rest still sit proudly on my shelf and unless things change they will no longer be added to.

Sony has refreshed the Holiday Sale, as new titles are added and a lot have been removed.
Here is a look at the exhibit from the early access preview.

Speed Factor throws players straight into a neon-lit highway of nostalgia, where punk rock riffs and pixel-perfect visuals collide in a furious symphony of speed. Inspired by the golden age of 80s and 90s arcade racers, this game invites you to tear through 50 diverse tracks across five vibrant locations, each brimming with retro flair. From customising traction assists to upgrading classic rides, Speed Factor is more than a race; it’s an adrenaline-fueled journey through the heart of arcade rebellion, demanding both skill and swagger from every driver who dares to take the wheel.
I beg to disagree with Call of Duty 3 being a bad game. Quite frankly, I find it Treyarch's best CoD game since they weren't hand-fed what ideas they should have for campaign and multiplayer. Being the only class-based Call of Duty mp still adds incentive for a few people to come back again and again to the "War" + CTF game modes. I'd also argue that CoD 3's DLC support is better than every other Call of Duty after it (although I can't discount MW3 since we haven't seen the support yet).
I find it odd that 3 seems like the odd man out of MP mentions despite it really being the last one that encouraged team-based work over "f*** you guys, I'm too close to my next killstreak to help" mentality that's plauged gamers since 4.
When COD3 was on Xbox 360, I hated it. The multiplayer for it was good though.
I agree with your sentiments on the maps. They're isn't a 'front' because your always being shot from the side or behind. It seems to favour camping.
Modern warfare 3 (despite a little bit of connection issues so far) has actually been my favourite call of duty game. I like it even more than I liked CoD4 at the time. Everything just feels good and the campers will disappear eventually when they all learn their way about the map. Who wants to sit in a corner all game and camp?
As for quickscopers, I don't mind em. I mean, I've tried quick scoping it's fecking hard. So I don't complain when I get killed by one because I know it takes skill to be able to do that.
I also really like the specialist package because I'm one of those guys who ends up wasting predator missiles by accidently firing them at a roof.
"last time I checked the news from Afghanistan people weren't chucking themselves off the top of buildings spinning round shooting their weapons."
As for this quote, well, you should be able to tell me why I quoted this. You know you're nitpicking when you pull the realism card.
Weak Blog post.
Im sorry but MW2 was a piece of trash multiplayer experience MW3 at least corrected the major issues and the maps are less vertical than MW2.
MW3 is better than MW2 and Black Ops period.
