Well, over Christmas I bought a PS3, finally returning to Sony since having a PS2 about 6 years ago.
The reason? The exclusive titles, Blue-ray (I have a 42 inch HD-tv) and more of my friends getting PS3's. Little Big planet probably tipped the scales, which I promptly bought along with GT prologue, MGS 4, motorstom PR and COD W@W.
As a media device its great, the way it links up to your home computer and HD films is great, the games are pretty good and I'm really looking forward to KZ2 out later this month, I can see many 360 owners buying the PS3 for Killzone alone, I know if I didn't have one already I would be snapping one up :).
What the PS3 fails on is playing with friends, the interface is poor when it comes to communication with friends, I can't believe there is no private chat for when your playing games, and still no 360 style party option.
Also the messaging system is very fiddly and over complicated.
Sony can change this so I just hope they do.
Overall I'm defiantly happy with my PS3 purchase (actually the 360 hasn't had much of a look in since), and am now buzzing in anticipation for KZ2 :)

A fresh datamine of Capcom's Resident Evil Requiem has hinted at the game's upcoming minigame bringing back Mercenaries mode.
The game has been properly cracked by voices38, no Hypervisor bypass shit. It actually runs better without Denuvo. From Tom's Hardware: "Denuvo properly cracked in Resident Evil: Requiem, bypasses become plug-and-play — cracked version runs faster, smoother, and uses way less VRAM and RAM" https://www.tomshardware.co... Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.
Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.

More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.
Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.
All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
Replaced is a staggering visual achievement, blending 2.5D retro-futurism with a captivatingly grim premise.

In regards to the friends features, its just one sort of thing that I think Sony needs to work on, like insisting implementation of features like "____ chat" and other party systems, but other than that, I think you'll realize that the games that make use of this stuff well, like Resistance or other 1st party or 2nd party games will do an ample job for party systems, and chat.

ps3 is a great all around system with tons of potential. Sure PSN has its flaws (what doesn't?) but its getting better. 2009 seems to be a great year for ps3 games such as MAG, inFamous, KILLZONE 2, Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain... etc. So your purchase of a ps3 couldnt have come at a better time. :)
P.S: its blu-ray not blue-ray lol.. (common mistake)
if you have cash like..grab the ps3 keypad..and its not overcompicated..it just takes time getting used to..but hey it works and i dont see why you can complain on something free..but thats just my opinion

Glad you enjoy the system and believe me, everything's a lot better than it was in mid-2007, so things'll get better over time, mainly through patches and the games.
The more you use the messaging system, the better the predictive text is, I've used it so much that it nearly predicts all of my vocabulary just by pressing 'X' all the time. It really becomes handy later.
Make sure you use the 'albums' feature to put everything into folders of the same name and take advantage of making custom thumbnails for videos, very cool.
Oh yeah, get some free themes to spruce up the XMB and test as many USB devices inside of the system, lots work including keyboards, mice and even PS2 controller for PC USB devices.

Uncharted is basically a must have. Its an awsome game that flexes some PS3 muscle. Also the PS3 peer communication interface isn't as good as 360's but as I understand it, the the next firmware update is "SUPPOSED" to address some of the things you mentioned like Party etc.
Other than that welcome to the PS3 community or DarkSide as someone put it. The PS3 is awsome and has a ton of sweet games and feautures. Just be prepared to constant hate and cheap shots from the gaming press. Games like Resistance2 rock but I think the media gave it such a bashing that it scared people away. So DONT trust to many reviews on PS3 exclusives. The media looks for ANY reason to ding them and discourages people to buy them.
