Was just over at amazon.com looking at some games I was interested in and I realized that once again, they are out of the MGS4 80GB PS3(hows that for some acronyms). Its nice to see that the PS3 is still selling like hot cakes on there, especially when half the people on this site are crying price cut. Now, by the time you read this (if anyone reads this) they might have some back up, but I think this shows the the PS3 is doing just fine. Oh and same goes for Wii fit, that seems to be out too(but thats always out), and Mario Cart Wii. The point I'm trying to make is that with the system still selling strong why would they feel forced to make a price cut? Maybe they'll start feeling more pressured once that new 360 price cut is put into play.

Get all the updates on the new title along with major updates coming to other Dragon Ball franchises.
"Goblinz Studio are today very happy to announce that their fast-paced roguelike sports battler, ‘Smash it Wild’, is out now on PC and consoles." - Goblinz Studio.

Sony will require UK players to verify their age to keep using PlayStation messages and voice chat later this year.
Such a BS law is this honestly, very poorly thought out and far too broadly applied.
So it's to 'protect children' from harmful content in messages, yet they can continue to play multiplayer regardless, where they will hear worse, they can even hear worse stuff in the street and school playground FFS lol
And I bet when you get your account banned they try and take the access to your digital purchases away
...but, I don't think Sony is going to make a price cut just yet. Maybe closer to the christmas shopping season. At their current price, the PS3's still selling quite well, and even outsold the 360 in the U.S. for the month of july. Sony's gaming division is just getting back to being profitable, and they probably don't feel any real push to lower their prices just yet. I still think, if it's going to happen in '08, it will be around christmas, and Sony won't anounce anything until TGS. I guess we'll all have to wait till then to find out. Just don't hold your breath.
Yeah, the PS3 is still selling very well. If the 80GB PS3 MGS4 bundle is selling out at $499 price points, it's a clear indicator that people definantly want PS3's.
It would be nice if Sony could get the PS3 down to $299 by the end of this year but that probably wont happen until next year... but I'm thinking that Sony might drop the PS3's price by $50-75 bucks or so by the end of this year because they'll definantly need that price drop if they still want to stay in this console war.
But, after seeing the performance of the Xbox 360 at a $279.99 price point, it's just pretty obvious that price really doesn't matter to some people, or the Xbox appeal just hasn't gone as far because Microsoft doesn't have much of a built up userbase/fanbase like Sony does.
A bundle with LBP would end the race for 2nd place of the console war. This machine is still $500 and it's only a $100 cheaper than when it launched with the 60gb with Talledega nights. It's impressive and it definately shows the long tail of the PS3.
There are multiple reasons for why this bundle is selling well:
1) BC and the fear of it's complete discontinuation
2) MGS4
3) 40GB Extra
Once the MGS4 sales has reached its saturation point, it would be much more interresting to see how the 360 and PS3 fares.
I would say the 360 is doing well considering it hasn't had any big releases for a while (excluding NG2, since it was never expected to be a system seller anyhow... but is my favorite game on the 360 thus far).
Ever think they don't stock so many because they're pricey?
