With new portable consoles launching this year and peripherals launched last year designed to lengthen the life span of our current home consoles, many speculate that we wont see new consoles for another 5 to 6 years. This means our current generation would've lasted 10 to 11 years. I feel its time for new consoles to launch within the next year to year and a half. How do you guys feel about this?

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The charity event will be streamed live from Gamescom in August.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.
they should announce a new console in year nine. The longer the better.
The devs need more time to use the systems to the max. Also costs of stuff and things I'll not be lengthy by mentioning.
By "launch within the next year and half" do you mean for new consoles to be announced then or to actually be on the verge of release then? If you mean the former, then I agree. I think if they were announced by the end of 2012 it'd be about right, probably be released maybe around 2014/2015? I find it hard to believe Sony when they said they haven't even began thinking about the PS4 yet, I'm sure their plans are well under way by now.
I'd rather later than sooner. I just want to see creative games, and we don't need to buy new hardware for that. Although, I'm glad that the new handhelds bring us closer to console levels of power and control (Especially NGP).
