The constant bickering & slandering of fellow gamers, game devolpers, consoles etc.

I have no idea how, when, or why video gaming has become so political. I started playing video games because they are fun and enjoyable for people of all ages but it seems since the next-gen console war is upon us its rather difficult to be open with your opinions regarding video games to all gamers without being slandered and ridiculed. For example why is it that if you own xbox 360 you MUST slander and think very little of Sony and their PS3 or if you own Sony PS3 you MUST slander and think very little of Microsoft's xbox 360. I don't understand this at all and do not know why gammers MUST  dislike each other and constantly bicker with one another regarding what games they play and more importantly what console they play it on.

I completely agree with you; but I suppose that's just arrogant human nature to join into special interest groups or gangs to so everyone can "belong" to something. In our case its Xbox fanboys and Playstation fanboys. It's the worst here in America where all we have is gangs and groups, I say let the little kids and immature adults fight it out as it won't ruin my gaming. If I can't afford both consoles than I buy the one that has the most games that I like. I care about games and that is all.

I wish there were more gamers like us man because this console wars is getting way out of hand.

It all started with Apple and Microsoft. Which OS is better has been debated much longer than this consule war, and whenever MS put its foot in the console race, MS fans were just so use to arguing that their product was better that they kept on arguing. Also, PS fanboys enjoyed being the dominate console for almost a decade so whenever a new console comes along with promise they got all upidy and defensive.

wish we could all just get along.

This is all healthy banter, no real harm done and ultimatley we are all gamers. Its our common interest in games that gives rise to these differences of opinion.Consider the alternative, everyone agreeing with each other over everything. If that were the case, then this site wouldn't exist. I can disagree with almost everything you post or the console you choose, but in the end we are united by are interest and enjoyment of video games.Don't get too upset,by the odd moronic comment, it just reflects the members

First off: I am not saying that we all need to have the same opinion i'm just saying that some of the fanboys take the it too far by personally attacking each verbally in their comments regarding the opinions of others and that is what I think is ridiculous.

Secondly: It does not seem like the interest in games is whats is giving these gammers a "rise" it seems like all people want to do is argue about what console you play your games on NOT the actual games at all.

Such a BS law is this honestly, very poorly thought out and far too broadly applied.

So it's to 'protect children' from harmful content in messages, yet they can continue to play multiplayer regardless, where they will hear worse, they can even hear worse stuff in the street and school playground FFS lol

Well, they can't regulate schoolyard talk or the streets of London, so this is probably the next best thing.

I don't agree with it, though it's exactly the sort of tweak around the edges politicians would make to have it seem like they're doing something.

About as effective as "protecting women's sports" in the US that literally targets 4-5 trans athletes nationally: you *could* do that... But why would you do that.

Both cases are just prudish politics for deeply unserious people.
