With next-generation systems like Xbox one and PS4 around the corner questions are arising in every form and manner. As a neutral fan boy myself who plays on all platforms I can’t help to think about how much more affordable and graphically efficient Pc’s will be then consoles in just over 3 years not that they aren't already. I also know that in the end it really comes down to software of choice coupled with the fact that most videogame titles are fully optimized to play games on consoles while creating a bit of simplicity from the user interface. But I have to wonder will that be enough in the years ahead.
With that first thought in mind I have started to take notice on how the mobile and Pc gaming market have really pushed for more dominance in the gaming industry in just the last few years. With options like Alienware X51, Nvidia Shield, Razor’s gaming laptop, and even android based consoles working there way into many homes, this might just indicate the signs of a shift. Which leaves me with another interesting thought. Will next-gen hardware be sufficient and efficient enough in the next 4 years?
I started entertaining that thought as well and I came to several conclusions. First, if you’re a console gamer and graphics are a big part of your gaming experience then I see no other option for a shift to PC gaming in the next 4 years. In my opinion Xbox one and PS4 will start to show there age much earlier this new generation as there seems to be no groundbreaking raw processing power. So if your not a graphic troll this issue is of no relevance to you. It also important to note that at this point you can build a gaming PC with similar Next-generation architecture at a fraction of what new generation system will cost at launch.
Second as the mobile gaming market expands so will its peripherals. This will translate into a faster growing market overall just because we can finally play games with better controls. Let’s take into account that new mobile chips that are 2x as powerful as the ones we use today are less then 1year and a half away. In addition it might be safe to assume that more and more indie games will be jumping onto the mobile gaming platforms as new players like Madcatz and Amazon jump in the field with there android based gaming devices. Mobile gaming is on an upward ramp and though it may not suit all gamers it will mostly likely take a big chunk of the casual gaming market in the years ahead.
In Conclusion, are next-gen systems going to give shift to a more demanding PC gaming or mobile gaming market? In my opinion I will probably shift more play time to mobile games in about 2 years and will continue to play my console games. But if this new-generation of consoles last another 7 years before new hardware is released. Then I personally have no choice but to transition more of my gaming to PC to play games like Battlefield 6, Watchdogs 3, Witcher 4 or even Titan Fall 3 the way they were meant to be played. This is just my outlook on my personal gaming preferences and in no way do I mean consoles wont also have there place.

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The charity event will be streamed live from Gamescom in August.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.
Thank you guys will work on it. Thanks for the feedback
I'm new to writting so any feedback is welcomed thanks
I get what you''re saying, but I personally think that home consoles will always have the edge on PC's in terms of convenience and ease of use (so long as Sony, MS and Nintendo don't ruin that aspect of them as well) The "plug in and play" aspect may have become a bit of a running joke these days, but at least you can say with reasonable certainty that if you put a PS4 game into the PS4 console it will work.
Many gamers these says either lack the funds or the patience for PC gaming, so until that changes no matter how much PC gaming is comparably better to console gaming, the console will still be the preferred choice for mainstream gamers, IMO at least.
Not to metion that console exclusives are still a huge selling point these days.
a gaming pc is already FAR cheaper
ps4=$400
PSN PLUS REQUIRED for online play
$400 in 8 year console cycle
extra controller $60
games cost $15 more AT LEAST than pc games on average
$15 a game x 100 games $1500
Garbage dlc forced down your throat, vs free mods on pc
$500 over life of console just to get the maps/modes
after tax your looking at around $3000 USD for a far inferior experience
I can build 3 pc's today that will DESTROY the xbox1/ps4 for that amount of money
or I can build a bad ass rig, a TON of games, and have PLENTY of money left over for a new gpu every few years to ensure that, while the console experience only goes downhill, into lower and lower resolutions, crappier anti aliasing methods (fxaa anyone, lol, looks like absolute TRASH) my pc experience constantly gets better
1200p, 1440p, 1600p, eyefinity, 4k
yet console resolutions will go like this
native 1080p in a FEW games to start
then 900p
874p
793p
754p
720p
at the end of ps4/xbox1 life cycle, they will be lucky to pull 720p with all settings set to low, lower player count etc. while a nice, mid spec gaming rig will be rocking out all the same games in 4k res and effects NEVER POSSIBLE on xbox1/ps4
an 8800 gtx came out the same time ps3
it destroyed ps3 then and still does now
but at least it was kind of close....sorta...I guess
now, a mid spec 3 year old card CRAPS on the xbox1/ps4, not even talking about the insane cards that are out today that utterly obliterate the "next gen" consoles
and in two years
pssssshhhhh
games won't even be in the same realm
