Whats your favourite video game developer of all time?

Who is your favourite game development company and why?

Some Honorable mentions:
•Kojima productions: for constantly making quality Metal Gear Solid games
•Capcom in the 90's and early 2000-2005: for Resident Evil 4, Street fighter, Breath of Fire.
•Atlus: for Persona 4, Persona 3
•Rockstar North: GTA
•Rare in the 90's: for Godleneye 007, Banjo Kazooie, Donkey Kong, Jet Force Gemini
•Sega: for Valkyria Chronicles, Shining Series, Phantasy Star

Here is who I think are the 3 best developers of all time:

3. Nintendo Entertainment Analysis and Development. Its likely most people got into video games thanks to Nintendo EAD (Super Mario Bros, Legend of Zelda). Super Mario World was the first game I ever played and finished. Its not just their NES & SNES era work that made me choose Nintendo EAD; am amazed by the way they constantly reinvent games and bring new ideas, see latest Mario game for example.

2.Naughty Dog is arguably Sony's best studio. Almost all their games have gotten over 90 on Metacritic. This generation if you ask a PS3 owner on N4G for their top 10 games. 99% chance it will contain a naughty dog game. Although I found Uncharted 2 to be their best game, some will say their best is Last of US, or Crash Bandicoot or maybe even Jak. They have quality everywhere, no wonder there is varying opinions.

1. Final Fantasy 6, 7, 9, 10, Kingdom Hearts 1, Parasite Eve, Tactics Ogre, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Xenogears, Vagrant Story, all except 2 of those games are 90+ on metacritic....Squaresoft were just pure gold. Anything they touched turned to Gold. They got me into JRPG's. Not to mention the Great Music that was made by Nobuo Uematsu back in the day and the EPIC stories by Sakaguchi. Love it or hate it, Final Fantasy made a last-ditch effort to survive in the video gaming industry, they grew into an international phenomenon I credit Final Fantasy with bringing the JRPG genre to such prominence in the 1990s and early 2000s.

give reason why everyone

NewMonday4525d ago (Edited 4525d ago )

people are mixing publishers with developers, Nintendo is a publisher with multiple developers, like Capcom and Konami.

but publishers also publish games from external teams, like Xenoblade before Nintendo acquired the studio. so my list will list fully controlled development groups, if this was about individual developers it would look different..

1) Nintendo: decades in the business and quality always high.

2) Valve: like Nintendo they are consistent and have a long history, but get second place because of lower output.

3) Sony (includes ND,SP,SSM, MM...): Nintendo has a longer history, and Valve have better consistency pushing Sony to 3rd place.

4) Capcom: if this list wasn't about "of all time" they wouldn't be considered, their games from the SENS up to the PS2 era were gold standard and their logo was considered a seal of quality.

5) Blizzard: just one or 2 franchises away from being in 4th place.

5)Konami: few games this generation.

7) Rockstar: constantly good games but lack long history and games quantity.

MidnytRain4525d ago

Bethesda is incapable of releasing a game without game-breaking bugs.

Picnic4523d ago

Haven't found one in Dishonored or its DLC.

BluP4523d ago

Bethesda "released" but didn't DEVELOP Dishonored. Arkane Studios did.

I don't see the point of this. It's basically "Name the developers from your list of favorite games."

Nicaragua4525d ago

It's a gaming related user blog on a gaming website, it's not rocket science.

Now quit being such a grump and join in.

For me it's
Studio Liverpool (damn you Sony!), because wipeout games always look and sound impressive on whatever console they are on. Nobody does futuristic racing better.
Kojima. No explanation necessary.
House marque. Because I love revamped shooty games with massive explosions
Bethesda. Fallout, nuff said.
Sierra. Because homeworld was the greatest strategy game ever.

Rockstar. Why? GTA1 for the PS1 is basically the reason why i love videogames so much. The first time i played GTA for PS1 i was gobsmacked, the open word concept was amazing to me.

And since then they have created some of my all time favourite games like GTA San Andreas, Red Dead Redemption, GTA5.

Runner up, Bethesda. Skyrim and Fallout 3 were my entire life when i played them. Never, ever have i been as immersed in a videogame as i was in Skyrim.
