Cliffhanger - Longin' for a Laserdisc remake

Everyone seems to remember Dragon's Lair. It's the game that put Laserdisc gaming on the map. A new generation has been introduced to the great animation of Laserdisc games through rerelease on PC and DVD of Dragon's Lair and it's less successful follow-up Space Ace. But I wonder how many remember probably one the best, though not as successful as Lair, Laserdisc game Cliffhanger.

Cliffhanger was quite bold for it's day with it's more modern theme and before its time Japanimation. This was a fantastic game that I never had enough quarters to actually finish. While Dragon's Lair was short and pretty much standard hero save girl from Dragon-fare Cliffhanger was much more daring and risky with more, character(s).

Of course, Like Dragon's Lair the ultimate goal was to save the girl. But like a good anime, Cliffhanger was fast paced with a broad range of villians and locales. There were car and helicopter chases, ninjas, scuba diving and of course Clarissa. Given that Japanimation is like, 100 times more popular than it was when this game was released in the 80s, it would surely be well received on XBLA or PSN.

With just about every major new game being some derivative of an FPS, same ol' same ol', I could go for a good old remake of one of the most fun, refreshing, and for its time, creative games made. Sure, it wouldn't last today's hardcore gamer more than about 4 hours. But the casual gamer, that maybe has a few hours every weekend to play a game through, it would be well worth whatever the XBLA or PSN cost might be.

They just don't make games or the characters in them the way they used to.

UPDATE: While I was able to resist Dragon's Lair on DVD, I was not able to resist Dragon's Lair AND Space Ace on Bluray. Ordered them both today on Amazon. Can't wait to get these in HD on BD. Maybe, just maybe ... nah..

Reanimal Review | NoobFeed

Asura from NoobFeed writes: REANIMAL isn't a big change from what Tarsier Studios has always done, but it is a bold step forward. It’s not as soft as other works, more like a fairy tale, and has a meaner, more emotional tone. The switch to full 3D allows for more exploration while keeping the tense atmosphere that marks the studio's style.

High On Life 2 Review | NoobFeed

Mahi from NoobFeed writes: High On Life 2 does not reinvent the genre, but it does feel like a confident step forward from its predecessor. You just have to decide whether you want to spend fifteen hours saving humanity with a group of chatty alien guns commenting on every move you make.
