Video games, a fantastic interest that has gained millions of followers over the years and thanks to the internet more people can now express their opinions on the matter much easier and conveniently than ever before. Having experienced the best and worst forums dedicated to gaming, here is a list of that experience that might help gamers out there who want to keep their options open in regards to communicating with fellow gamers.
The Best:
1. AVForums: A fantastic community that not only has a deep dedicated gaming section but also a vastly rich encyclopedia of reviews, news and opinions on other areas of entertainment such as TV, Audio, Home Cinema, Health & Fitness and Sports. The gaming section especially seems to extend far in the positive department, with console wars and trolling a rarity.

2.VG247
Despite being an excellent source for up to the minute gaming news and rumours, VG247 had suffered a dent in the community department which seemed to attract a detestable majority hell bent on posting poison to those who don't share even the slightest of similar preference. These days it is a much brighter state of affairs and whilst the platform preference insecurity club pop up on occasion, it is mostly a welcoming and reasonable bunch of gamers who are passionate and knowledgeable.

3. SuperHeroHype:
An unexpected gem, a website mainly dedicated to comic book movies, SuperHeroHype has a busy, informative and flowing gaming section that does not seem to have been infected too much by poisonous trolling and fanboy insecurity. With a neat, clean and reliable design and set up, SuperHeroHype is highly recommended for those looking to express opinion without too much manure hitting the fan.

4. NowGamer:
Not only is the main website highly informative and well designed, it has started to build up a enjoyable community that seems to focus more on talking about games rather than the ridiculous system war bile so many websites seem to either ignore or encourage in order to get more hits. Highly recommended.

5. TheSixthAxis:
Those looking for Playstation coverage, make no mistake this is a terrific website that only has a very well crafted layout, it also has a growing community that are passionate but welcoming, allowing new members to blend in easier. Give it a try.

The Worst:
1. NeoGaf:
Atrocious is the word that comes to mind when it comes to NeoGaf, an absolute cesspit of negativity with a sense of arrogance and elitist persona that has simply been created after a registration has been approved by the moderator. Although some employees in the gaming industry have from time to time posted information on NeoGaf, the bile that is posted by regulars and newcomers alike on a daily basis vastly outweigh any positivity. Fans or regular gamers of the Nintendo and Microsoft platforms especially, will likely be put off by the constant determination by many members to push the Playstation platform as much as possible in any discussion or news post that does not concern it. Infamous for the nickname "SonyGaf" rather than its original title.
2. TeamXbox:
Like the SixthAxis, TeamXbox has a great, informative main website that provides some excellent coverage dedicated mainly to one platform. However unlike it's Playstation counterpart, it's community is rotten to the core. A bizarre state of affairs has left it's once interesting and enjoyable forums left to rot in the hands of trolls and fanboys with little to zero interest in Xbox enjoying nothing more than to spend most of their daily hours posting constant negativity and hyperbolic comments designed to infuriate any lingering fans of the Xbox 360. Moderators are sparse and those that do linger, i.e one, has shown zero interest in improving the situation having admitted gaming time is rarely spent on the console the website and community is dedicated to. Bizarre.
3. The BitBag:
Not only has the TheBitBag created one of the worst podcasts in gaming history (food chewing on a regular basis with bad headsets is just one of many faults)it has also aligned itself into hypocrite status. Having declared itself to be part of some "True Gamers Network", it could be seen as a guiding light for those who just want to enjoy talking about games and not fanboy agendas and silly system war politics. Wrong....
TheBitBag as a website is fine for reviews and previews however the community has some of the worst personalities on the internet, a toilet bowl overflowing with ignorant, detestable characters who spend far too much time showing hostility alongside insecurity rather than enthusiasm for the hobby they are meant to enjoy.
4. IGN:
One of the most popular gaming websites out there also has one of the worst forums. Poor moderation, poor discussions and poor flow. It is very rare for a forum thread on IGN to be an enjoyable read. Like TheBitBag, it has a detestable trait of hostility only on a much larger scale.
5. GameTrailers:
Like IGN, GameTrailers has a large following and one of the most popular in the business. Sadly, like IGN it follows the same trait in poor moderation, poor discussion and poor flow. Finding a reasonable discussion is similar to finding a piece of hay in a stackful of needles. Enough said.
So there you have it, a guideline to some of the best and worst gaming discussion templates on the web. Remember this is only opinion, not fact and it would be interesting to see fellow gamers experiences to find out what their best and worst are. Thanks for reading :-)
*Honourable mentions for best communities also go to GiantBomb, GameInformer and GamesRadar

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The charity event will be streamed live from Gamescom in August.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.
You forgot something: GameFAQs.
Horrible people, depending on game.
I always knew that the bigger the community, the worse people are on them.
I'm a NeoGaf/Gamespot guy, and I dabble in N4G Forums rarely. I like all my communities, surprised to hear you call NeoGAF Sony central as I never got that impression, but I am fairly new so I'll see... any notable examples?
I like NeoGAF, and I don't wanna go on a rant here, but in comparison N4G does look mentally challenged. I can say simple facts and get more disagrees than agrees here, and I'm not talking about "controversial" facts like global warming being real or creationism not actually being a theory, but facts like "Wii has sold more than PS3". Maybe you'll even have a guy saying "no cuz nintendo operates with shipped consoles, not sold like sony does"
I mean, people are so sensitive you have to add sentences like "This is my opinion, feel free to disagree" which is otherwise a given. If not you're trolling, or being provokative on purpose. Well, screw that. I'll be provokative on purpose because those comments actually carry weight. Not like bubble up comments like "i'm looking forward to bioshock: infinite very much". N4G isn't just normal fanboy wars anymore, it's a war on sense, even in its most moderate form. So yeah... good blog though.
Wonder where N4G fits in?..
Great blog though. Since I've used and been apart of most the sites you listed I can mostly agree with this.
I would add N4G for the worst community
