Much like a car engine, electronics will increase in temperature for a brief period after they are turned off. This happens because the cooling mechanisms no longer function after they are turned off. As everyone knows, the Xbox 360 will continue to run if you turn it off during a download. I have noticed that the temperature of the cooling air significantly decreases after about 15-20 minutes into a download (with the console off). I imagine this is because downloading with the console “off” is not very demanding of the system.
So if you just finished with a long session of Halo 3 or COD 4 and the console is hot, maybe you should quickly choose a demo to download and then turn off the console to allow it to cool before it is fully shut down.
For whatever its worth I decided to post this. I don’t have any hard data, so I am sure that many will find ways to doubt this claim. Apologies in advance if this has already been posted.

The charity event will be streamed live from Gamescom in August.

MS need to make whatever changes are needed to the 360 and then publically annouce the changes.
I am sure there are many sales to be had (I am one) once they officially announce the end of any possible overheating issues.
But I guess this might help those that already have one to feel a little better.
I was doing nothing but downloading demos on my Elite and got the three red lights. I don't know why. It's in an open and cool area. It's has only happened once and it is fine now but now I take a deep breath whenever I turn it on.
