Why I fell in love with Sony.

There are many reasons I am a self proclaimed Sony fan and there are many reasons. Some of the reasons I will outline will seem insignificant, and to most people they will be, but they became huge considerations when writing and when I considered selling my Xbox 360 just to purchase a PS4. Other reasons are reflections on Sony and the way they run their business. These reasons give me confidence in my product and its ability to provide the things I want from my console consistently. Nintendo is alright, but over the years they have made decisions that have purposefully put themselves in a different category than Sony and do not factor into my decision making as much as I might like them to. There are pros and cons to every system except for Sony's PS4 in my opinion and I will outline them the best I can in this write-up, because the Playstation 4 console itself is perfect, but there are signs in their business to make me believe that they will do everything they can to fix the mistakes of their past.

I am a trophy fanatic. In the past couple of years, I have sunk hundreds of hours in the pursuit of trophies. I love everything about them, from my PSN level, to the number of trophies I have and especially the completion of each individual game. The exotic sound of a trophy popping in the corner of my screen giving me chills to my spine is enough to make the last 10 hours I spent getting it worth while.

Playstation Plus is the subscription service offered to Playstation users. I have made the case multiple times that this is the best value in gaming history. For your money, you are given cloud memory storage, discount online products, exclusive demos, and a feature that allows you playstation to update itself at a set time when you are no longer playing. The real bonus that comes with Playstation Plus is also its biggest selling point, The Instant Game Collection.

The service provides users with about free games. At the time that I am writing this, I've spent nearly 2,000 in the playstation store alone. Some of these games will remain on the service forever, while others are phased out over time. The first question that often arises is whether or not these games will be available after they are phased out of Plus, and they absolutely are. If you have started to download a game while it was a part of playstation plus you will have access to that game as long as you are a member of playstation plus. If for any reason you stop subscribing, however you will lose access to the games.

You can’t talk about the best things of Playstation without mentioning the games. Playstation for a long time has been known their first party studios. These gaming developers are responsible for games like Knack, Drive Club and the Uncharted series. I could list each game that I love from Sony, but that would just not serve the purpose of this writing. What I want to convey about these games is the faith that Sony give me that to deliver quality games from most if not all of their studios.

What I like about Sony’s first party studios is the sense of creativity and quality that are apparent in most of their products. Anecdotally it seems that Sony has made a real effort over the course of their existence to spend a lot of money in their teams to make good games, and seldom put constraints on the developer on what they should be making. It seems obvious that Guerilla Games made the Killzone franchise to compete with Halo, but for the most part the intellectual properties that come from most Sony studios are new and fresh. They have continued to astonish me and keep me guessing for every release, and I am eagerly awaiting the next console cycle to see what kinds of new ideas will come from these people.

I love Playstation, I love people that use Playstation and I love all of the letters in Playstation, but was my decision to trade in my Xbox 360 for a PS4 tough? Absolutely not!

I'm a Sony fan because the games I prefer are always on their platform. Like for example: Guilty Gear XRD and Persona 5.

Yeah, I'm a closet weaboo.

When the original PlayStation underdog came out it was a phenomenal force of nature that shook the very foundations of video games and no one saw it coming!

The PlayStation made videogames an acceptable and legitimate form of entertainment all over the world, where any gamer can wear a PlayStation Memory Card around his neck and walk the streets proud and unashamed! PlayStation made video game a "cool" hobby that is not relegated to a kid's toy or a nerd's underground basement secret life.

No, siree. PlayStation became a man's entertainment!!!!

It was an unstoppable force of nature that even the most anti-Sony Sega Genesis fanboy like me have no choice but to concede, admit, acknowledge, accept, allow, grant, recognize, own, confess; agree, capitulate, give in, give (oneself) up, give way, yield, concede (defeat), submit, climb down, back down, cave in, relent, crumble; lay down one's arms, raise the white flag, throw in the towel. etc. etc.

because PlayStation was dedicated to make tons of great games from multitude of third party developers & publishers.

A tradition that still lives on today!

3rd party partners first & 1st & 2nd party exclusive games (to show the capabilities of the hardware) is second. That is the PLayStation winning strategy!

And boy PlayStation opened my closed mind to be ever be on the look out for the best! And that became a habit. To scrutinize the best from the good and the bad and the ugly.

And so far as far as philosophies go, while others just try to get and suck everything they can suck from the gaming industry,
I can see that PlayStation is the only true leader and innovator of the video gaming industry that will carry forward the gamers towards a truly exciting future of gaming as it tries its best to nurture the ground that gives birth to new and exciting, innovative and fresh gaming ideas and experiences that grows with the latest gaming related technologies.

PlayStation is like a farmer who plants more seeds (award winning IPs from Crash Bandicoot to The Last of Us) & technology (from SNES Sound chip to CD-ROM to Blu-Ray) for any plant that it harvests, more seedlings for every tree that it cuts down so that the industry will always be alive and nurtured for future generation of gamers to come.

Why I "fell in love with Sony" -> Naughty Dog.

Gamer7774121d ago

The PS4 is great console but it is not perfect. PSN has issues, the controller battery life could be better and I personally dislike the light bar on the controller. Your obsession (love) for Sony and PS4 a company and console respectively that don't love nor know you as an individual is very strange.

Elit3Nick4121d ago

you should see some of his comments, he quite literally treats the PS4 like the second coming. Ex "While I do have a gaming PC running all games on ultra settings, I can't help but feel at home when I am touching my PS4 controller. Every time I turn my PS4 on I get the chills. I feel like I am part of something revolutionary. I will always be part of the playstation family!"

Gamer7774121d ago

I looked at some his past comments he seems to be crazy. He states that he could play a game on PC with better performance and graphics but thinks he would betray Sony by doing so LOL.

Death4120d ago

If I had to guess he's trying to make legitimate Sony fans look bad with his posts. Knack and Driveclub are not the games a Sony fan would be bragging about this gen. Infamous, Killzone and the Last of Us are much better examples of what the system can do.

If he is indeed sincere, I'm a little worried for him.

GamingTruth4121d ago

I could get better performance on pc also, but I feel the more cgish graphics would by far be on my ps4 so ill stay ps4 also

Sm00thNinja4121d ago

Your level of fanboy is off the charts! Why limit your gaming experience to one console? Great games on all 3 consoles some I can't play on PS4? Oh well to each his own. Enjoy what portion of games you limit yourself to ! Cheers!
