Less than two weeks til London Games Festival gets in full swing, (Oct 25-Nov 2, for all of you who went 'wha wha festivuh?' at your monitor) and most gamers, like myself, would've already have minds set where they'll be spending their time on:
Some of you might do the DS world record attempt thingy.
Some of you might have already signed up to embarrass yourself at the Guitar Hero challenge.
Some of you will -wisely I might add- be avoiding like the plague almost definitely guaranteed stinkhole that is EA's Be The One Event. Look at the name; How can any good come from that?
Well, here's me attempting to add one more event to your 'to do' list; DARE Protoplay!
(applause!)
(applause!)
(tumbleweed!)
Maybe I should say more about it. Yes, good idea. Perhaps start at the beginning? Wow, another brill idea!
DARE to be Digital: nice little competition amongst university student to create prototypes of future Okamis and Rezs. These ideas -seventeen teams' worth, no less- are showcased at DARE: Protoplay, where you get to pour adulation/rain furious disdain upon. Voting is encouraged, winner get BAFTAs, losers are buried up to their necks in concrete, their floppy unwashed hairs set on fire, then trampled on by amoured rhinos from 300 while we all watch and laugh at how they're probably wet themselves, those keyboard ninja wannabees.
Not true the bit about losers, but still, you're probably asking 'why should Protoplay be on any one's visiting list? would i want to waste my minute second hours burning the skin off my fingertips to seventeen free student creations when I could Be The One! The One?!'
Not that you'd ask that. Of course you wouldn't... but if you did, I'd probably say-
This is a chance to support and vote for the truly fresh original homegrown ideas you'll be ignoring five years from now for Tony Hawk: Arthritis Galaxy Skatin' Edition. A chance to get speak to budding games designers about their work/art and try out some ideas of their own. Plus, it's free. A two day free event. Free. Two days. Free.

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The charity event will be streamed live from Gamescom in August.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.
