I am really enjoying Street Fighter 4. Moreso than I ever thought I would. But darn if my thumb doesn't start killing me using the PS3 controller. The dpad is accurate on the dualshock, but the fact that it's not a circular dpad is really killing my thumb [insert your poor baby line here]. My roommate has the 360 version but the dpad is...well you already know. So I figured I'd splurge on a MadCatz fightpad. Big mistake.
First of all, I did not spend the going Ebay rate on these things. I was lucky (or unlucky) enough to come across one at my local Gamestop. I picked it up and stared it at the whole bus ride home dreaming of owning my oponents using the six button layout. Envisioning my days of thumb pain coming to an end thanks to the circular dpad. Boy was I wrong.
The good about this controller is that the dpad is great for excuting moves that don't require charging. The bad is that it's really bad at executing moves that do. Guile's flashkick would just not come out using this thing. Also, the buttons, while easily accessible, require a good amount of pressure on both buttons to execute a throw or a focus attack. So unless you're willing to dedicate one button to either a focus attack or a throw, you're pretty much going to be without either when playing online. Last, and this is relatively minor but is still worth mentioning, the controller does not have a USB chargeable battery. Now 360 owners are probably used to this and will more than likely have a pair of rechargeable AA batteries on hand. Not so for the average PS3 owner like myself. I didn't use the thing enough to need to replace the batteries I used, but I could see that becomming a problem in the future.
In conclusion, the MadCatz fightpad did not change the MadCatz reputation for making a crappy product. The controller is great to look at but that's about it. I'm developing a SF4 dualshock thumb and find the 360 dpad to be better suited for SF4. Shocking right? I still hope that either Sony, Capcom, or somebody make a Saturn like controller with the same level of responsiveness. Until then, the dualshock is your better option for gaming with SF4. I would not recommend anyone spend anything on a MadCatz fightpad.

Pragmata has sold 1 million copies in two days, Capcom has announced.
I didn't know it came out last Friday, or I would have bought the game. I will try again for this upcoming weekend.
Im really digging it. It reminds me of games from the PS2 era, not visually or how it plays, but like the spirit of it. If you were around for that golden age of gaming, you’ll get what I mean when you play this.
The next thing I'm mine when I've had my fill of crimson desert. A nice linear action game to contrast the open ended 😗👌

Gonna have to disagree with you 100%. I have this pad for the 360 and the PS3 and love them both. No execution problems and I can throw and focus attack with the best of them. To each his own though.
