Gears of War 3 Predictions of an Obsessive. Part One.

Gears of War fans rejoice! It's a well known fact that as of Monday, April 12th Gears of War 3 was official following its announcement on The Jimmy Fallon Show. Now, with the Gears slowly reaching their final Turn on April 2011, here are a few of my personal Predictions for the game. Share your predictions for the game through comments...

This is the end, and lets be honest, judging on the "Ashes to Ashes" Trailer, its not going to end well. Throughout the trailers for the second installment of the franchise, there was a strong emphasis on Marcus and Doms friendship, from the announcement trailer, "If anything happens to me, promise me you'll look for Maria", to the "Rendezvous" trailer depicting Dom, seemingly injured, being handed a lancer by Marcus. With the "Ashes to Ashes" trailer, it is strongly evident that Dom is in a sorry state, having killed Maria in the previous game, as he is knocked to the ground, we see him stare death the eye's, not afraid, before being saved by Marcus (and the new Double Barreled Shotgun). I predict the tagline "Brothers to the End" focuses on Marcus and Dom, possibly hinting at the death of one of the two.

With the game being set 18 Months after its predecessor, and judging on the "Ashes to Ashes" Trailer, the characters seem to have aged.

Marcus Fenix: Less Armour, perhaps the war is starting to take its toll on the protaganist. We see little interaction between him and Anya (Whom he showed strong affection for in Gears of War 2) but i'm predicting the feeling is mutual, and I believe a romance could highten the potential of the plot and setting for the game. However, my main interest for marcus in the third installment, is the promise of some answers and a stronger focus on his relationship with Adam Fenix, his father (Heard after the credits of the second title), whom I believe will prove essential to the plot line of the third game.

Dominic Santiago: I have many views of the third installments Dom, I predict we will see a more suicidal Dom, due to his dificulties coping with his wife, Marias death. I believe Marcus and Doms friendship will be tested, aswell as Doms Loyalty to the team (Proving a liability due to his state of mind). There was a strong emphasis oN Doms character in the games debut trailer, perhaps hinting at a possible shift into the role of central character (Although I highly doubt it).
I think with Marcus and Anya's relationship growing Jealousy will  towards the couple by Dom due to his loss, causing tension within the group.

Augustus Cole: Cole was the comedian of Delta Squad throughout Gears one and two, however, with the more gritty style to the game previewed in the debut trailer, I sense a more serious Cole. One question: Whats with the headware? Dont get me wrong, its not something I'm critisizing but I believe that there is more to it... That probably sounds stupid, but lets look at the whole perspective here, if a depressing character fell ill in a film or game for example, its would have a smaller effect than if it was to happen to a cheerful, bubbly character relied on for comedy value and to brighten the mood. Thats right, even though it would sadden me, and even though it sounds pathetic, I'm predicting Cole will have some sort of serious illness in the final chapter of the franchise. How have I got this? He could be wearing the hat out of shame, due to balding (Now I'm guessing I sound really stupid, but what the heck, its my prediction :P)

Damon Baird: With Baird, I dont know what to expect, I believe the game will focus on his friendship with cole if my previous Prediction is true. they seem to evidently still be great freinds by the "Ashes to Ashes" trailer, being side by side, as usual.  think that with the third game, everyone will get a stronger role and Baird being a carer for Cole would be fitting for the sarcastic soldier and a great time to show some real emon behind the character.

Anya Stroud: With Anya, I think she will take the role of the Medic perhaps, not a sexist view, this prediction is down to the Intelligence of the character shown throughout the novels and first 2 games. With her being the love interest of Marcus, I think she will prove as his shoulder to cry on. Due to Anya's small friendship with Doms wife Maria, I think she will prove as a guiding light to Dom.

I think the game will in some way end with Marcus and dom, the story began with the two and possibly end with the two. the reasoning for alot of my predictions is due to the announcement of Four Player Co-Op, just like with the second, I believe Epic will want every character to have a major role in the game.
