As a fairly avid gamer and someone who enjoys scouring the internet and my local gamestop for news of upcoming games. I noticed a few days ago that of the 5 different websites I visited on videogames, 3 of them had adspace for the new Call of Juarez game.
That was my first hunch to maybe purchase it.
I visited Gamestop where an employee there told me he 'loved the new Call of Juarez' and he 'couldn't wait to get off of work to finish the story mode'.
Sold.
I went home with game in hand. Carefully unwrapped the plastic and popped it into my PS3. Oh, I also smelled the booklet...and don't think I'm crazy I know someone else out there loves the smell of a new videogame.
Fast forward to me finishing the story mode and I can honestly say that the game I had thought was going to be an awesome title barely left an impression with me.
Something about the game did not just set right with me. I don't know if it was the sloppy gunplay, constantly blurring my vision when I tried to zoom in on a character. Or if it was the forced one liners and terrible overall gameplay.
Another thing that drove me nuts was when I'd be in the middle of action and/or a crazy gunfight I would take one step after shooting someone and the game would pause and load the next available mission or checkpoint. This got to be very annoying, very quick.
I've come to learn in my years of gaming that you can tell pretty quick if the company developing a certain video game spent a lot of time on a title or not, or if they just cut corners to publish a game. I don't know if Techland spent a lot of time on this game or not but It sure doesn't seem like it, right down to the plain shadows on the ground of the characters. I even stood in front of a mirror at one point and there was no reflection...not even a pixely blur. I'm not looking for near perfect graphics, but it's the little things like mirror reflection that stand out and make you think your playing something that someone spent time perfecting...not just half assing through.
Now, there were some beautiful moments in the game like some scenery that I had to stop and take a look at, but it just seems kind of weird for such a gorgeous game to a clunky front end. Also some of the character models were very nice, like the stitching on Ray's gloves but it just kind of sours you when you see that but then everything else seems so bland.
I don't know, maybe I'm being too hard and maybe I'm beginning to demand perfection but I have played many games with no ads posted on websites and gamestop employees hated that I fell in love with.
uh oh, my boss just walked into work...gotta go.

For Southeast Asia, new price changes.
Prices effective starting May 1st, 2026.
Looks like PlayStation took a hit with Marathon and is now quietly adjusting prices worldwide to recover the losses
The price increases are due to the RAM demand associated with AI and the US-Iran war. You can look to any business news website and local news to see that. Heck, even the 2026 Asus Zenbook Duo I've been eyeing has faced delays and has had a price increase of $400; that laptop has two specs. Asus is doing a staggered release with per-orders for the lower spec now and shipping in May and pre-orders for the higher spec that I'm eyeing starting in June. Basically, all computer manufactures are affected. It'll most likely start affecting smart phones too if it hasn't already. I can't remember the last time any major console maker (Nintendo, Sony, Sega, etc) increased the price of their console mid cycle outside of Microsoft just to make more profit.

CGMagazine writes: "And as I said, the actual game of Kiln is so genuinely boring that playing it to unlock the creative tools was such a massive chore that I genuinely started to resent it by the end. Battling is a monotonous button masher. There are only five arenas, and despite being based on different gods from various mythologies, none are particularly memorable in visual style or music. And it’s all just such a homogeneous mess of nothing."

Skewed and Reviewed have posted an interview with Author Mike Diver about his pending book on Aliens video games.
I'm just finishing the Story mode now and I really like it.
Now, I agree with you for the most part. Screen tearing is unfortunate , pop-in can be jarring but otherwise there's a lot of detail in the games characters and environments. The buildings and towns are all excellent, and I've had no issue whatsoever with the gameplay. I think the shooting is great, although the weapons are understandably limited to the time, and I like the cover mechanism. The story and voice acting is above average, in my opinion, with the voice actor playing Ray sounding like he's channeling Deadwood's Ian McShane.
Now certainly this game doesn't have the same polish as something like Killzone 2, but I've had a lot of fun with it so far and I'm looking forward to giving the multiplayer a shot.
It's certainly worth a rent if you like western themed shooters.
I thought it was a decent story (above average for the genre, really) but the gameplay didn't have that extra hook to pull me in. Once you get over the novelty of playing as a cowboy instead of a space marine, you realize the game's like a lot of other shooters out there.
Mistake #1
" 5 different websites I visited on videogames, 3 of them had adspace for the new Call of Juarez game."
You are an advertisers wet dream. Kind of a shallow reason for buying a game. If you pay attention to the adds on N4G, you'll notice one of them is for vaginal reconstructive surgery(No Joke!). Does this mean you're going to go get some VRS next?
Mistake #2
Did you ever play the original COJ? It was atrocious!
Mistake #3
Not waiting for Red Dead Redemption
In my opinion, I thought the game was great. 4/5 for me, wrote up a review on PSLS. The scenery in the game was fantastic, and I agree with some of your thoughts. :)
Games that I am unsure of I rent first.
I have bought plenty of games that I THOUGHT were going to be good that just flat out FAILED.
