There's probably not too many of you who have played, or remember a character named Voodoo Vince; the star of an original Xbox platform game developed by Beep Industries that was published by Microsoft Game Studios back in September, 2003. Microsoft was in desperate need to find a mascot for the Xbox that could rival the likes of Mario, Sonic and Crash Bandicoot.
They had already tried a year before with Blinx the timesweeper, but he didn't leave the memorable imprint Microsoft was hoping for. Neither did Voodoo Vince. The game got a 73% avg on Metacritic and unlike Blinx, Vince never got to star in any sequels.
So, why am I mentioning this has-been platform hero to begin with? Well, because he resembles the most popular platform icon at the moment, Sackboy, in more than one way.

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The charity event will be streamed live from Gamescom in August.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.
Very similar indeed my friend. I thought I was the only one who liked Voo Doo Vince. Sad thing is, I only got teased with a demo version of it. I finally went out and bought the game used for $10, but I failed to realize it wasn't backwards compatible for my 360. Duh! Like most, I got rid of the original Xbox.
Whether Media Molecule stole the their sackboy idea from Voo DOo Vince or not, I don't know. But I bet they sure looked to him for inspiration. VDV deserves a next gen sequal. If people on the PS3 are having fun with LittleBigPlanet, Microsoft should take the Voo Doo Vince and Sackboy ideas and run with it and create some truly spectacular. I can wish can't I?
