At a Glance: Juicy Beast Studio

Juicy Beast Studio was co-founded in 2009 by friends and has then since grown to four friends. Initially focused on Flash games, over the years the studio has grown in capabilities as well as expanded their platform capabilities. Their latest game, Toto Temple, is set to be released this summer.

Toto Temple Deluxe is a fast-paced, local-multiplayer king-of-the-hill style game in which players must steal an egg-laying goat from their friends and try to keep it on their own head for as long as possible. You know, normal stuff.

Mini Q&A
Answers provided by Yowan Langlais, Co-founder

Why do you make games?

We all like to play games, obviously, but we also love art, music, animation, and design. There’s absolutely no other medium that fuses all those awesome things together better than video games. That’s why we make games, because we can play with all of these things at once, and we love it.

Why should people play titles from Juicy Beast?

If you like weird, silly and polished little games, then you’re probably going to enjoy our games. We’re not targeting anyone in particular, we just enjoy making games we would like to play ourselves. The end result is just a reflection of what we like as gamers and artists.

What element of game design do you hold above all others?

We’re huge fans of accessibility, clarity, simplicity and elegance. We also think that even if a game is simple or accessible, it can (should?) offer a good challenge and reward players accordingly.

An egg laying goat? Awesomeness.

firedude36633967d ago

egg laying goat... I don't think that is in any other game ever...

Stringerbell3967d ago

I love how goats have officially become a thing. The question is will goats ever dethrone cats as the internets go to animal?

Christopher3967d ago

Pshaw! Goats are just humble and have let cats assume that they are kings of the Internet.

mushroomwig3967d ago

I hope so, goats are much more nicer!

Xavior_Reigns3967d ago

Ah I was wrong, it's Goat King then. Regardless seems pretty entertaining. "Wierd, silly, and polished little games" sounds appropriate.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing40d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9240d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit40d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing40d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9240d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
