20XX makes no secret about its influence. Taking notes right out of Capcom's Mega Man X series, this side-scrolling 2D adventure also incorporates roguelike elements and even throws in a cooperative mode to boot, so you can take down dangerous robot foes with a buddy in stylish synchronicity.
And, well, that's about it.
20XX is straightforward, simple, and not at all muddled down in trying to have complex additions that obfuscate the prime directives—jumpin' and shootin'. We can certainly touch upon the power-ups in the game, of which there are roughly 100 planned once the game exits Early Access, but they seem of little consequence when all they do is slightly augment the very basics.
Note that 20XX delivers, make no mistake. Despite its simplistic message, there's far more than meets the eye. Whether you're the pellet-blasting Nina or the sword-wielding Ace, your mission is the same—destroy the robot baddies! The aforementioned power-ups will aid your treks across the procedurally-generated stages. Oh, did I forget to mention? The game just pieces together levels from several mechanics across the game.

Here's the short description of 20XX, per Batterystaple Games:
“20XX is a game built to feel like Mega Man X, but with random levels, random powerups, permanent death, and multiplayer. The game uses a procedural level generation algorithm that pieces together levels from a certain number of mechanics at a time; it switches rapidly between playing like an action game and playing like a platformer, mixing precision jumping with fevered combat.”
Does that whet your appetites? It better! 20XX is loads of fun and feverishly difficult, as the base quest has you facing down enemy after enemy until you reach the big bad at the end of the path. The tried-and-true Mega Man formula that Capcom has built around for years.
However, taking a page out of Halo's book (you know the one), you can activate “skulls” in order to increase the difficulty. Enemies with more health? You betcha. Dealing more damage? Yup. You can no longer dash? Uh huh. And several more that are already available in the Early Access version or will become available at a later time as the game nears release.

As icing on an already-delectable cake, you can partake in daily challenges, ranging from plain hard to straight up miserable. The daily challenge available has a normal mode, which is already difficult, or one augmented with several aforementioned skulls. 20XX isn't for the faint of heart, but will reward players for tenacity and bravery with rightful bragging accolades.
Anyone looking for to overcome some serious trials, look no further than Batterystaple Games' 20XX. You've found a home to test your mettles. And, believe me, your mettles shall be surely tested.
Day 22 | Batterystaple Games

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The charity event will be streamed live from Gamescom in August.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.
Not my style of games so i would wait for reviews and gameplay videos 1st
Looks good.
Looks like a fun game I will hate to love playing because I will die a billion times.
This looks damn great, megaman is the bomb. If the controls and gameplay are spot on I can see myself playing this, even the daily challenges!
Looks good. Here's hoping for a handheld release
