Step into the shoes – or rather, the ectoplasm – of a peaceful ghost residing inside a haunted mansion, thriving in the cold and dark environments and enjoying the solitude. In a moment, the mansion doors open to a few human dwellers and the ghost learns that his quiet home is now a hotel and in contrast to its needs, the home-invading humans start turning on the lights and warming up the place. It sets the stage for an interesting dynamic of reclaiming your home from the unwanted visitors who are completely unaware of your presence and presents your ultimate goal: scare the living daylights out of the trespassers and send them in a full sprint, screaming for the exit. It’s called Booooo (formerly known as Spooked), an upcoming mobile game from Norwegian developer, Process Games.
As the ghost, you will be able to interact with certain objects in the environment – such as slamming doors and manifesting hanging portraits – in order to instill fear in the oblivious inhabitants and get them to leave the mansion for good, so that you may continue to thrive in peace. The ghost is understandably unable to leave the premises, but it can move throughout the house in any direction, including through walls, ceilings and floors. There is an energy meter that monitors your reserves, serving as the primary source of powering your abilities. Heated and illuminated rooms within the mansion will drain your energy and disable regeneration while cold and gloomy rooms replenish the reserves.

Several abilities – aside from interacting with objects in the mansion – are available to use and offer interesting gameplay dynamics. Of course, using this abilities requires energy and it adds a sense of required strategic planning to ensure that by using certain abilities at certain times, you will maintain enough ghostly energy to survive. These abilities range from using a frightening voice from the confines of the atmosphere to instill a sense of unsettlement within the hotel dwellers, to flash-freezing a room and immediately turning it into a cold and desirable environment, to complete manifestation, revealing the ghost’s true and scary form, which works wonders near a group of people.
There are different character types within the game and each require a particular strategy and effort to scare well enough to send them flying out the door. You have your run-of-the-mill guests that don’t require much effort to scare. Just slam a door or two and make a portrait’s eyes follow them where they walk and they’ll leap out of the nearest window. More difficult characters include the hotel manager, who isn’t about to let his business be overcome by a ghost without a fight; he’s a more ferocious adversary and will not be scared as easily. Instead, he’ll illuminate the room and turn up the temperature, preventing you from getting close enough to try and scare him further. Getting the hotel manager to pack his bags and flee will require some careful strategy.

The art style in the game is simplistic yet functional, appropriately highlighting the game’s hot and cold theme. It utilizes warm tones to complement the lived-in rooms within the mansion and cool tones to appropriate the dark environments ideal for the ghost’s existence. The overall design feels very approachable and has an aura of a fitting Victorian and 1920s-ish overlay.
Booooo is certainly a game to keep an eye on as it’s an entertaining experience and a great, enjoyable way to pass time with a mobile device. It’s currently being developed for Android, iOS and Windows Phone, with plans to bring it to Steam and the Windows Store.
Day 3 | Process Games

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The charity event will be streamed live from Gamescom in August.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.

It's a mobile game but I'll admit it sounds like a pretty fun way to burn some free time. Visuals are nice and scaring people is always fun, well most of the time.
