Trying to squeeze in some game time around work and family is tough

Things that need improving in gt5

1. The force feedback
lets be honest here its rubbish, its just heavy. Theres no sense of feel, don't get me wrong I like the weight. Its just sometimes like when your over steering or under steering you want the wheel to go light to mimic loosing grip. I would also like more options, most driving sims come with a wealth of options like dead zone, force feedback strength and sensitivity. GT5 calls itself the real driving simulator and yet I don't think it takes itself seriously enough.

2. The graphics
From inside the car no other game can touch GT5, but switch to the exterior view and your greeted with backgrounds that wouldn't look out of place on the wii. The shadows are still broken except on Tsabuka where they are perfect. There's still an effect when spray or dust is being kicked up by the car. Surely Polyphony Digital can patch these things because one of my favorite things to do in GT since number 3 is to watch the replays, they used to look stunning. Now they are full of jaggies, the shadows are either jagged or flickering and it ruins the experience for me.

3. The online experience
There's not enough options for me, take Forza 3. It has a load of playlists to try, my favorite being the production hoppers. The new PP system is a good idea but what i'm finding is people are setting up rooms with PP settings that are perfect for them and the car they have chosen but for you not so much, there are alot of cars in gt5 so the chances of you having the same or something similar is nil. I'd like to see some playlists designed to get people racing in in similar cars instead of 900bhp monsters, because that's what GT5 is all about, the racing and there isn't enough of it.

4. The price of cars
I wasn't lucky enough to know people who could send me the jaguar, ferrari, ford or alfa romeo 20,000,000 cr cars and I have finished A-spec mode. I have about 3,000,000 cr. Thats along way from the 80,000,000 I need to purchase these cars. Why put them at such a steep price, i'm sure some people have the time to make that amount of cr but i'm not one of them. I earned myself an X1 by completing the vettel challenge but that car is useless. Why not put some new championships in where you have the chance too win them cars, I see know other way I'm going to be able to own them.

5. Standard cars
I understand that the amount of detail in the premium cars meant that not all 1000 cars could achieve that amount of detail. But the cars don't even look as good as gt4s cars. I hope that this can be updated because again alot of the cars I like, including the m3csl and the e55 amg are standard cars and they look horrid. The patches keep coming but these issues are being ignored.

I take part in a weekly series called SSCS (Saturday stock car series) and the organizer is looking for more racers, head over to gt planet to see if your interested. search virtualbornracer or SSCS. The image was taken from one of my first races and as you can see its a close race. What would you like to see improved or added to gt5.

Can't really agree to all these, but you did a decent job of backing up what your saying.

is the force feedback, i hope they patch it because it doesnt feel right.

800 Standard cars... That is really a shame for the real driving simulator.

What wheel are you using? i use the Logitech G27 and to be honest it feels fine to me. I do not really have an opinion on the rest of what you said as none of it bothers me... but there is room for improvement in any game.

But it works great with other sims like gtr2 and f1 2010 it goes light when needed. it sheavy all the time in gt5 and it has no feel.

The only game I've continued to keep playing since November. So, flaws, aside, that's saying a LOT for me.

1. I've heard this has more to do with how much you spend on the wheel

2. Some background are worse than others. EX. You could hardly tell the Nurburgring with overcast/rain on day/night weather change was from the same game as some of the ported tracks like Trial Mountain Circuit. I think, honestly, overall, they did a good job balancing graphics/performance.

3. Agree for different reasons. PP is fine, connections are not, for me.

4. Agree, they could be toned down a bit. The 0-1m mark is fine, but everything above 1 million gets absurd

5. Disagree 100%. Its just a fact of life now, the more technology games have, the longer and more expensive the process of developing. I'd rather them have the cars in there that they couldn't acquire and model, than not at all. Many racing games don't even pass the 50 car mark, or even come close. "Excuses" aside, the looks don't bother me on 9/10 of the cars, saying its worse than GT4 is a flat out lie. Some of them are hard to tell that they aren't premium.

I plan on getting a fanatech gt2 but i have a dfgt at the moment and it works great with other driving games like gtr2 and f1 2010 it seems to be just gt5 i have problems with.

I completely agree about the price of cars; I had to play the game for about 25+ hrs racing the Indy Speedway race where you got about 100,000 cr. for winning just to afford the Ferrari P4 Race Car and then when I got to the 20,000,000 spot, it told me that was the limit and I couldn't have anymore money.
To tell the truth, while I love the P4 Race Car, performance wise the Enzo, McLaren F1, or a many others will give you way better performance for your $$$; I'm pretty sure it's the same for the other astronomical priced cars as well; they have similar base performance numbers. I had to do the same to get a Chaparral race car as well.

For me two things in particular made me very aggravated at the game: 1. the hit detection; some times I could plow into a couple of cars and run over 20 cones and I'd be fine, then sometimes a computer car could just barely brush my car and I'd be DQ'd. 2. They had A-Spec races in which you had to have a specific kind of car to do the race, and of course, to get the ones that would work the cars were either vulgarly priced or they were a "used car," or both. This means you had to not only guess how much it costs and have the funds available when it came up for sale, plus the 1,000,000 credits usually needed to rebuild the car.

I do, however have to disagree about the standard cars looking "worse than GT4 cars." I own almost all of the GT series games; If you have the game pop in GT4 and play it for a bit, then play with the same cars in GT5; the difference is astounding.
Some are not equal to others, I notice mostly the classic cars are the ones look better. As far as the interior view, I prefer the chase camera, but it would be very nice for all cars to have an interior view.

I completely agree with the tracks needing a facelift; one of my pet peeves at the moment is the invisible walls, especially on the Top Gear track.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing8d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster928d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit8d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing8d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster928d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
