Exciting idea/s for HOME, the REAL Gamer's Lounge

Hello to N4G.com, it's members, and for my fellow PS3 members.

How is HOME? Been there lately? It has come a long way these past 12 months, and if you haven't been there, you must go check it out. The amount of content is ludicrous, it's fantastic!
For those who do enjoy HOME, and for those who wish they had more mini games in HOME, and want better contact when dealing with the companies who have products in HOME. Well here is the place for you! You, your friends AND more importantly a place for those people A little over 1 year ago, HOME ran a contest for us to come up with the name of a NEW meeting space. We did not know what this space was going to be. After Sony chose the name, with one of the 1st meetings in it, I did find out what this NEW Space was MEANT to be. Locust Star said, "This place is for Game creators, Publishers etc., to come into HOME, and talk to us, get our feedback etc. Great idea!
Now I have been to a few of these, and while it is cool knowing that some companies DO CARE and want our feedback by showing up in HOME. It's very hard getting a question answered because everyone crowds that special guest, and so many questions are being typed out, you can't even read the replies.
Now I myself, did not like the name, Gamer's Lounge, especially AFTER hearing what this place was truly meant for. IF we all knew what this place was, then "Gamers Lounge", probably would NOT have been chosen.
That is why i came up with this idea, and honestly, it's one of the better ideas I have ever come up with in regards to HOME. The main reason I am saying that is that if this is IN FACT going to be a place for meetings, to interact with the members of HOME, and the developmental community, where idea's are tossed around and so forth, then they should take the wrecking ball to this place, and close this down.

But regardless of the name, here is how to better it for EVERYONE, and if it comes to fruition, it is now a Extremely valuable piece of HOME when it comes to bridging the gap between the gaming creators, publisher's and their parent companies and ourselves.

The Gamer's Lounge, the TRUE Gamers lounge, we NEED Games! We, meaning members of HOME, already "lounge" around in the plaza, bowling alley, listening area and in our owned spaces. Having this space, that even if it had a chess board or two, even when talk about games, ta da, we already DO THAT EVERYWHERE IN HOME. We don't need a designated area to talk about games, and "lounge around" . BECAUSE WE DO IT EVERYWHERE ALREADY. A Meeting place to talk w/ developers etc, is not a lounge. What, if I am in the plaza talking to a few people, and someone brings up Killzone 2, were supposed to stop, go to our menu, go to the Gamer's lounge, and talk about Killzone 2? Seriously? Of course not, lol, are you nuts? lol Were going to talk about it right their on the spot.

Now I was at one of the 1st "meetings" in the Gamers Space with Locust Star. I will more then likely NEVER GO AGAIN. The guy shows up, and he asks everyone to PLEASE NOT CROWD ME so he can tell us what's going on, and answer a few questions. He mentions a few things, then it's a goddamn molestation of the guy, as now everyone is in his face & everyone is typing out questions and comments.
So you can't see what the poor guy is saying, let alone, what anyone else is asking, so you go look at the chat box to see what he said, and the things is scrolling fast as hell because everyone is just typing away. So as I said, enjoy because that will be my last one until you guys can get it under control.

I am a billion % serious, I ask you to please print this out, and hand many copies to your co workers, designers, and your bosses because this is honestly, one of, if not thee Greatest way this can be done for both of our beneftis! Even though 50-60 people showed up for the "meeting", when you have more people coming, it's gonna be jammed packed, and then nothing gets done. All you will have is even more pi$$ed off people like you had today, who complained that they waited around their for that long, "just for that BS"

Now in that meeting, I asked Locust about putting actual games in their, and he said, "We could do that, but, this place is REALLY for the developers and publishers to come and talk about the games, and for the developers to talk to us about their games..

I said take thee wrecking ball to this place and I meant it. OR ...

If you TRULY are going to have publishers and designers COME into HOME and want to talk to US about their games, then you really, REALLY need to put serious thought into this because it can and it WILL work. But things need to change FAST!

And here is what I came up with:
Topic 1-Tell them to build you a NEW space but not any ole space.
Topic 2- Alter the Gamers Space as a true Gamers space!

TOPIC 1 Designers, Publishers & Developers in HOME - Gamer Meetings
1- Ask them to build you a space, that's a Auditorium or a huge Conference room with stadium style seating,(like in college) so everyone who comes IS SITTING down, and the developers/designers/publisher s are at the front of the class so to speak, with their avatars or whatever

If the developmental community is going to come into HOME, they're going to tell us, or ask for our ideas, and/or talk about their games, then they should have the right platform to speak in front of us, with no distractions. Where EVERYONE can see and hear (if they used voice chat) what they are saying, or asking.
(Unlike today for example, and it would be extremely embarrassing for Sony to have created HOME, then have some developer/creator/publisher come in from Activision, SCEA, Rockstar etc, and be witness to that the mob scene that was today. How unruly would it look to one of these developers with 50 people up his a$$ all throwing out questions at once? NOT GOOD

1a- Create a TRUE meeting Space called the "Developmental Publishers and Designers Forum or the Developers, Publishers and Designers Forum :"D-PAD" for short (ooh I LIKE THAT BTW) D-PAD!

Stadium style seating, possibly 2 rooms, so if you have 2 people there, 1 person can speak to a group in one room, and in the other room the other designer talks to everyone else. After say, 30 minutes, the developers switch rooms. PERFECT. Both people talk to the same crowd, just at opposite times so when their done, they switch and we don't have to move from our seat. Now if only 1 developer is there, you can still have him in the front, and like you have the different servers or "instances" for us, like the bowling alley when it is packed, that person will still show up in both rooms.

- If WE want to ask a question, we will have to "Raise your hand", (the developers of HOME would need to add Raise your hand into the menu system)

- They should be able to choose what person, or # of that person, and they will ask their question, via the text box, OR Voice chat, (that is where voice chat would really shine!).

- Now you can do 2 options here for asking questions:
a) We open up the text box, type in our question, and when we hit send or whatever, our questions go right into Sony's offices, then Cydonia, or Locust Star etc., can organize the questions that comes through, then you pick which ones that get asked because there is always 1 or more questions on a certain topic. And when you filter the questions, you then give them to whomever comes in, so they can see the questions being asked, instead of ones being thrown at them, then type it out or use your voice chat for us to hear.

b) You can also have the people who do have a microphone, asking the questions using their voice chat. Then IF SOMEONE who gets picked, uses voice chat, since they will be the only one talking through their voice chat, if they curse, or use racist crap, boom instant suspension in HOME for a day or 2 whatever. Now while they may be a moron, or an a-hole, they do not need their stuff revoked for life so to speak))

Get rid of the Gamers lounge as a Meeting place and build us the RIGHT TYPE of PLATFORM, as I came up with, "D-PAD"!!!

Make it a TRUE gamers space with loads of different games.

2. Make the Gamer's lounge the place it SHOULD BE!
Where it has different games for the following:

Room # 1 - Card Games : Sponsored by Hoyle playing cards
- Gin, Rummy, Rummy 500, Spades, Hearts, Go Fish, War, Old Maid, Solitaire, UNO,
- Poker games including: 7 card draw, 5 card draw, Texas Hold Em, Omaha, Let it Ride, Blackjack, and Red Dog aka Acey Deucy

Room #2 - Arcade Games : Sponsored by Namco Bandai, Atari, Sega, Taito, Activision etc.,,
And considering some of these companies also make PS3 games, you already have contracts with them like Sega, Namco, Atari etc. and will have a bunch of games like Pac Man, Ms Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Gradius, Defender, Astroids, Dig Dug, and some others of course in their.

Room #3 - The Board Games: Sponsored by Hasbro, Milton Bradley, Parker Brothers etc.
Battleship
CandyLand
Monopoly
Scrabble
Risk
Stratego
Backgammon
Chess
Checkers
Parchese
and more..

Now I know some will object, and personally I don't care, but after seeing what happened with this Gamers Lounge initially, now knowing its true meaning as a meeting place for us and creators, then you MUST create the D-PAD Space!, Now, since we all want more games, and game types, and varying ones like I mentioned, this I think is a really REALLY great idea.

I will have detractors, but I could care less. What I DO care about is going into HOME and having a good time with my friends, with options up the wazoo and having boatloads of game launching titles like Warhawk etc,, But, that 1 exception is cards and board games, where we can all truly hangout, have fun, AND talk about whatever, because their is no better way to meet people and get to know them then playing games with them, while next to them.

Video and music sharing.

More like video/music viewing, but if you were allowed to play video and music files directly on your HDD, have streaming off Youtube and other select sites, the place would explode.

haskell4205578d ago

As everyone knows, that is thee biggest blunder so far. I have submitted easily 12 letters to SONY explaining my ideas and thoughts regarding certain areas..
And I never got that whole BS about "rights". If I have friends over my HOME Space, and I decide to PLAY my Music that I took the time to upload, to MY PS3, and then PLAY it as background music, if they hear it, they cannot RECORD IT.
Now don't get me wrong, if they want to stick a tape recorder to their speakers, that's fine, cause it's crappy. Same goes with movies. If I decide to turn on my TV in MY Home Space, and play videos, be it trailers, movies or home movies etc, it is not copyright infringement if no one records it!!
I have sent them numerous emails ranging far and wise, be it their horrible advertising, which pisses me off like you wouldn't believe, HOME Improvements and more. Now I know it shouldn't, but as a fan, as a business person, what they are doing is a joke, and it's sad! SPEND MONEY ON QUALITY ADVERTSING.
Magazines, Sunday inserts SONY is know where to be found! Yesterday I got the new Best Buy Sales flyer. There is a 1 page ad for the KINECT, XBOX Games, accessories etc...and what is directly on the next page? Oh, it's Sony's ad..
So we have MSfts Kinect on page 3, with all Xbox stuff for sale..and on page 4, here is Sony, 2 rivals, Side by side, and would you believe, it showed a PS3, a lot of games, and not 1 WORD, NOT 1 IMAGE for the PS MOVE!!!! ARE YOU FRIKKEN SERIOUS?????..HIRE ME FOR CHRIST'S SAKE. I'LL TAKE HALF THAT MORONS SALARY AND STILL MAKLE BETTER ADS..UNREAL...

Look, I loved my PS1. Graphically though N64 delivered a better overall experience. The difference that gave PS1 an advantage was CD storage PS1 had some beautiful cut scenes, but in terms of graphical power N64 hands down was better. PS1 had WAY more GAMES though. I think Developers preferred the tstorage over squeezing everything onto a cartridge with VERY limited space!

GameCube same thing Nintendo went with storage that was limited, but had games using multiple disks. RE4 is one port that clearly showed GC advantage. Rouge Squadron 2 and Luigi's mansion were beautiful launch games. Again PlayStation didn't Limit developers storage space. Nintendo's mini discs were expensive, and developers went with PS2! PS2 I am pretty sure has the largest game library of all consoles. Maybe not if you in include the vast amount.of.shovel wear on current consoles.

After that ugh, Nintendo seems to have given up on graphical power. Switch 2 games look really good, but I am usually going to buy ports on PS5/Series X.

N64 had some stunning games, but a lot of the library ran poorly. PS1 games tended to hit a playable 30 more often, albeit with less complex geometry and less/no filtering of textures, and the inherent flaws in how PS1 rasterises graphics.

I played loads of both back in the day and I definitely preferred the solid geometry and smooth textures of N64.

Terry_B1h ago

Most N64 games looked pretty bland compared with PS1 games.

PlayStation 1 Devs were so innovative back in the day utilising so many techniques to achieve the best results. I think this article needed to focus on the games that used pre-drawn backgrounds like Resident Evil, In Cold Blood and FF8 to produce visuals that surpassed anything at the time.

PrimeVinister9h ago

I think you are right and I might add in an honourable mentions to at least discuss pre-rendered backgrounds in the visual history of PS1. It was hugely important and should have been in there.

I was going to include Resident Evil for 1996 but I wanted to talk about a second-generation 3D engine versus Ridge Racer, and I also wanted to talk about Lara's animation.

I was also going to put FF8 for 1999 on the list, even wrote a sentence. But then I figured that Driver would say more about how far programmers (and artists) had come in getting the most from the console.

PrimeVinister9h ago

Could even do an 'alternative PS1 graphics' history. Focus on atypical presentations, like pre-rendered, 2D, BSP engines etc.

WWE 2K26 Ringside Pass Premium Includes New DLC Wrestlers, But Will Cost $600+ to Unlock Everything

WWE 2K26 Ringside Pass introduces a battle pass system that could push the game’s total cost to $675, sparking major backlash from fans.

MetroidFREAK2110h ago

Why do people keep buying these yearly sports games?

TheDreamCorridor10h ago

Not everyone buys them every year.

Chocoburger6h ago

What a pathetic, scummy joke. Fortunately we can play the amazing PS2 / N64 games, with newly created fan mods, and not support 2K or WWE anymore, they don't deserve our money.

Terry_B1h ago

Nah..won't buy another WWE game before 2030. Got '25 with all dlc..which are over 300 wrestlers and whatnot..and am sure this and the next 3-4 wwe games will all be pretty much just more copies of the same old shit.
