So I read another member's blog about his love for his cherished console, and it got me thinking. Not in the fanboy flame war kind of way, but just why through it all do I love my PS3.
First and foremost, I think 95% of PS3 owners either owned a PS2 or played multiple games on it. It's call brand recognition. Sony lit up the gaming world with PSone, then again with PS2, so many instinctively thought it would be the same with PS3. Well being a member of N4G since the early days of the PS3, I know it didn't get the most flattering of welcomes.
I bought a PS3 while stationed in Germany in the Air Force. I honestly didn't want it at launch, I told my wife what so many others said- "I'll wait till it gets games". Well that didn't last long. Sony got my 500 bucks for I cheaped out on the wireless internet option and got just the 20 gig. I instantly loved it. I had played the 360 and I owned the Wii, but Sony came through, for me. It felt like a Better PS2. I played Resistance non-stop for months, while so many others where complaining about lack of games, I took the high road and enjoyed what games it had. Never once have I regretted my purchase. After an easy upgrade to the hard drive, I found my system met all my needs- Blu-ray, exciting gaming both on and off line, great graphics and plenty of potential.
Since launch I have watched the PS3 get bashed on harder than a pinata at a birthday party. I watched images of it with tomatoes thrown at it(thanks EGM!). I watched it get called the biggest failure of a system. But some how the PS3 just kept truckin.
And over the past 4 or so months N4G went from a "360 fanboy haven" to a "Sony Droid hangout". And it seems that N4G has become a battle grounds. I can name a hand full on both side who pour gas on the fire daily. But then I can also name those who have come to see thing the same as I have. I have seen people get called fanboys when they really just have mixed views on all the systems. I have had my name thrown in as a fanboy but feel its a bit unfair. I don't own a 360, but I don't hate it. My disgust goes towards Microsoft. Even though they fixed so many consumers RROD problems I am a firm believer that they should have never, and I mean, NEVER happened. To me Microsoft was scared of the competition and rushed a product on the market to get the initial cash flow from gamers hungry to have NEXT GEN. I have nothing against those who got them, I played it many times upon release and the game catalog is good, but I can't condone that acts of an over zealous company who rushed a product to beat the competition. But that is neither here nor there. My point is this generation of game systems has lost the meaning of what it is to game. It has become the nastiest red vs blue battle imaginable. All the stories have come to be about what one system did to beat the other. Or how one money hungry company is going to eat another company so it can become larger to get more of our money. Or about how many pixels of lighting this system displays over that system. This generation of systems lost its desire to become gaming and gain a love for hate.
I must say that fanboys are some of the most loyal people youll meet, BUT they can be some of the most ignorant. I will say that I was ignorant to some of the great features of the 360 and at times a bit jealous, but I have come to understand both sides. There are great features to this generations consoles. X360 made their community features highly enjoyable, but i dont think i should have to pay to enjoy the full potential of a system. The PS3 had great intentions in mind but left true games wanting some of the bare necessities of this gen. And wii avoided upgrading to go a more casual route. But all in all i would say its a great time to be some one who loves to play video games.
I believe that every system out there has a value. My PS3 is more valuable than my wii or a 360, but your 360 is probably viewed by you more than my ps3. But what I ask you is "Does it matter?" Do the sales of a system change the fun your going to have when you turn on and play? Does the amount of pop up change the gameplay of GTA4? Does paying for online gaming change the fun of the game itself? It doesn't matter. Unless you are the head of Microsoft or Sony, sales numbers mean nothing to you. My challenge to everyone on this site is to stop hating the other system, and remember the enjoyment of gaming. Remember the first time you play Mario as a kid and had to beat Bowser to get back Princess. Back when gaming wasn't so much about Nintendo vs Sega, but how much fun Mario and Sonic was. 2008 has the potential to be the biggest gaming year ever, with all systems having smash hits coming, so enjoy the great year and stop the fanboy hate clubs.

Kirby Air Riders just released a big version 1.3.1 update with new amiibo support and tons of balance adjustments - here are the patch notes.
Last year, Owlcat announced they were working on another CRPG set within the world of Warhammer 40,000 called Dark Heresy. This would have potentially led to an assumption that they were done with their previous game, Rogue Trader, but nope! They're still going, and a brief teaser for that CRPG's next bit of DLC was shared (and when I say brief, I do mean it), and to wet your appetite, some gameplay for Dark Heresy is there to have a look at too.

Just days after Sony decided to close remake masters Bluepoint Games, a new report claims that wasn't PlayStation itself that stonewalled the idea of a Bloodborne remake by Bluepoint, but developer FromSoftware.
Well. I have always said. A real gamer plays for the games. Many people want to defend their choice. Which is cool. I felt like crap when they stopped making games for the Dreamcast(great system with great potential I felt) but trucked on and got me a PS2. I hated Sega for ever too cause I was a "SNES" fanboy arguing in school about how much better it was then the "Genesis"... Still nothing solved(No winner) but I learned from it. We all got together and whooped eachothers a$$es in some MK 3 and SF2 all the time and it was always fun. the same goes for this gen. With the cost of developing games these days Dev's can't afford to be picky. If it can go on one system then by god it will. If it can go on both then damned if they don't release it on both.
I own all 3 systems and enjoy all my purchases. I like some features on each and whatever. The RROD doesn't matter to fans as all the "fanboy" arguments mean little to fans. As much as listing games and other useless trivia. Halo fans have a 360 and MGS fans have a PS3. I am not a fan of either of those games but have/will play them and beat them cause a real gamer plays games for the games. I love innovation and try everything cause thats what its all about and I wont base a sequel off a previous installment on a "old" system.
Both systems have enough of an install base that they won't "Lose" in any way. So arguing it is useless. It's a "my daddy can beat up your daddy" argument that is pointless cause nobodies daddy is gonna beat up anyone else's here... Be a fan and be proud if you like. I don't care. I never take bubbles cause everyone can have an opinion. If they are ignorant they just go to my ignore list.
What matters is that you enjoy your purchase and defending is useless unless you are in the industry. I can't wait for Gears 2 and GOW3. I am stoked for Killzone2 and Ninja Gaiden2. FF13 and Fable 2. Banjo Kazooie and LBP. Prototype , Left 4 dead and many many others...
My only advice is knock the games you hate not the Console companies. Dev's actually look at these forums. Sony and MS only look at their bank accounts... Nintendo probably doesn't even know what internet is(judging by their online service =P)
Game on bro and hit me up on PSN anytime you want a good butt kickin.
Well said, and I agree on all points.
But it start with personal fight like first I said on Gamespot a very moderate comment that Gears looks best then some body argued on that. I was a PS2 user till then so it didnt mattered to me initally but then on other comments there was bashing like none of the 360 titles are good and all the things. So I was getting annoyed. Then I saw a blog in which a person was mentioning that he is a PS3 user and Xbox users always make more mockery and I recall" WTF I dont make mockery of anyone instead they are bashing me" and then I was in the war like thing all over till March 2007, Iwas a novice back then.
But then I started realizing that it was useless to say such thing because there is nothing to change a view. See Wii their fanboy fight the least so anyone would buy it. But if a bashed 360 or PS3 user buy opposite console a mind would be there that he has accepted deafeat.
Also the time when I left commenting unnecessarily fanboyish was when a articel was wirtten abt PS3 cell's technoloy and I started a flame war over there and the topic creater talked to me really nicely and instead agreed with me on various topics then he said it seems you have a good time with 360. Hope later on you have a PS3 so that could make it even better and I didnt felt a thing instead I felt like yes I should buy PS3 since a friend has recommended it. that changed my mind but the sworm of fanboys sometimes make me write worthless things. Still I never go too far in it since it will only make them more rigid.
I would say one can and should write anything that he like this game or that and this better but never say personal comments like idots, fools etc. that should do it. Also dont compare like this is trash w.r.t this.
Also I would say I respect Microsoft and its nothing like its American firm or so infact I am not American or even have been there.
