Recently I got into a debate (that's all I seem to do) on here about the visuals for Infamous: Second Son. In my opinion, whilst the game certainly looks impressive most of the time, it is not the best looking next-gen game I have played.
If anything, I believe that award should go to Killzone: Shadow Fall and some of Battlefield 4's cinematic set pieces in its campaign were a lot more jaw-dropping. So in making my point, I made reference to a picture that I also mentioned in our review for the game. Immediately afterwards, all sorts of accusations were made at me, stating that I was a fanboy and I deliberately picked a picture that was obviously just a rare bug in order to further some sort of agenda.
Well, in order to state my case, the first thing I did when I finished work was go home and find this footage and then check again myself to see whether or not this was some rare bug I encountered.
Bear in mind, that I got a platinum for this game in less than 2 days and I thought, after reading all the replies to my post, that maybe it was just a rare occurrence and that surely someone would have brought up the issue if this problem did exist. I was, as I mentioned in that thread, fully prepared to apologise if I couldn't that footage or prove my point.
Not only did I manage to find the old footage, which I must have hit the share button after encountering the problem during my initial playthrough, in the space of a couple of minutes, I managed to encounter the same thing again.
So for all you guys accusing me of trolling, please tell me if I made the following pictures up:

I also made a video showing off footage of this happening. I'm commentating over the video and I re-recorded some extra footage yesterday. Bear in mind that I am speaking quite fast for some reason and I recorded the audio on my phone so the quality is terrible.

What I'm doing in the video is going through the comments in the topic that sparked the 'beef' here:

I was speaking quite fast so let me know if you didn't understand what I was saying.
*WARNING- if you haven't completed the game, this video contains spoilers in terms of the powers I use and mention of certain stuff. Also it contains some very mild NSFW language.
So tell me, what's going on here? Do you agree this bit is ugly? Its the main building in the game! Why is it so messed up?

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The charity event will be streamed live from Gamescom in August.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.
Interesting, maybe because it's an open world sandbox type of game that not everything will be as pretty as advertised by the dev.
Of course as the devs become more familiar with the consoles and spend more time in development these types of problems SHOULD disappear...hopefully.
It's shame though that you got seriously attacked in that article for pointing out what you experienced and even wrongly accused of trolling. That term gets thrown around on this site so much that people forget it's true definition.
Yes, this building shouldn't and doesn't represent the whole game but it is in there as you pointed out. And just because of this you should have been attacked as such by certain members of the community.
Well. That looks like some concrete evidence if I ever saw it.
Damn that looks hideous.. Anyways, the game looks great from what I've seen (besides what you have posted). Question to everybody who has the game. How is the LOD if your far away? As in, if you look at a building far away, does it still look good?
Also I'm interested to see if anybody else has a similar picture of the same area.
Yuck! Well, it's not like a developer can make anything 100% perfect by launch. The rest of the game looks really crisp, so seeing something like that has me thinking about what the developers were up to when they were making the game.
That is one ugly building for sure. I personally have never encountered such an issue.
I think the hate you're getting stems more from the fact that Infamous has been in competition with Titanfall for some weird reason, and so many will not tolerate any dissenting opinions on the game because it has to be better than Titanfall in every way even though the two are completely different games.
Part of that problem DEFINITELY comes from the gaming media who incessantly compare the games, and part comes from the gaming audience at large who continue that B.S.
Infamous has some beautiful effects, but in all honesty I didn't notice too much of a difference between it and Infamous 2 over all. Now that's not necessarily because it's NOT better looking, it more has to do with the fact that I don't look for things like that. When something was truly beautiful, like the Neon or Video effects, then that really stood out. That doesn't mean it will be perfect for everyone.
Infamous SS is a great game, but it isn't perfect. It's shorter than the other 2 Infamous games, less varied, and leaves you feeling like it wasn't enough of an experience in the end. At least in my opinion. People need to understand that Infamous is not competing with any other game because there are no other games of its kind on current gen consoles. So if someone criticizes it, they aren't necessarily doing so because of another game.
