Note that this list is my personal opinion and only games that I played (and finished) are listed. Please be constructive and unbiased and feel free to state your opinion and list your own personal favorites.
As a side note since I never owned a Wii during the 7th gen only PS3 and 360 games are listed. Also PC games are excluded as I don't play much on PC. Additionally PCs' don't really have generations and instead have of gradual transitions.
15. Vanquish (Played on PS3) (also on 360)
Vanquish delivers a challenging adrenaline fueled campaign that hits the mind like rich dark chocolate. Vanquish is simply an excellently crafted and exciting shooter. Unfortunately the adrenaline ride is short lived.
14. Halo 3 (360 exclusive) ( rereleasing on XB1)
Halo 3 was simply good fun. The campaign was not as good as previous games (partially due to decreased story) , but the multiplayer and co-op aspects of the games were highly addictive. This game gave me hours of enjoyment especially with friends.
13. The Last of Us (PS3 exclusive) (rereleased on PS4)
This is easily one of the best crafted stories of the 7th gen; the main and secondary characters are all memorable. The single player of The Last of Us is excellent and atmospheric. Throughout the single player I enjoyed the stealth and combat mechanics particularly the brutal melee combat. The games' multiplayer was simply not my cup of tea. I really wish this game had a cooperative horde (or survival) mode.
12. Halo: Reach (360 exclusive)
Halo: Reach has the best designed campaign of the Halo series. The single player is intense and has a variety of vehicular combat sections including space combat. While the multiplayer had some imbalance issues (Armor Lock) it is still well paced and fun
11. Bioshock Infinite (Played on 360) also on PC and PS3
In my opinion this is strongest of the Bioshock series. Gameplay (especially combat ) was tighter than the previous games. The story was also very strong and the ending was real head spinner. I have few negative opinions of the games single player aside from it suffering from repetition.
10. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare ( Played on 360 ) also on PC, PS3 and Wii
This was the first game I played on 360 when I first got a 360 in 2008. At the time the game felt very fresh and the campaign was well designed with great levels like All Ghillied Up and the multiplayer was extremely addictive . Unfortunately this games popularity led to it being overly emulated heavily by other developers and the COD series being annualized.
9. Bayonetta (Played on 360) also on PS3 and coming to Wii U
I enjoyed the stylized combat and boss battles of Bayonetta . While there were a few vehicular segments that went on too long; the games' combat kept me hooked. Combat is easy to learn but difficult to master; which resulted in myself practicing numerous combos during the games loading screens. It appears I may have to (and likely will) pick up a Wii U to play the games' sequel .
8. Far Cry 3 (Played on 360) also on PS3 and PC
After failing to get into Far Cry 2 I was pleasantly surprised by the third entry in the series. Far Cry 3 has a lengthy single player campaign with a cheesy but enjoyable story. The campaign is content rich and allows the player to choose from a variety of play styles. In the campaign you can choose to take out your enemies with stealth like a predator or charge into combat like a maniac on drugs . The game also has a multiplayer component that I failed to touch due to purchasing the game nearly two years after its initial release.
7. Batman: Arkham City (Played on 360) also on PS3, PC and Wii U
Batman: Arkham City is probably the greatest super hero game of all time. The gameplay is tighter and more expanded than its predecessor Arkham Asylum. The single player campaign is excellent with few flaws. I haven't had more fun beating up thugs and super villains as a super hero in any other game. Batman: Arkham City single player can easily last well over 20 hrs and the presence of challenge maps is further icing on the cake.
6. Gears of War 2 (360 exclusive)
The second entry in the Gears of War series has much more value than the first game. The single player is more very well designed with a mix of brutal on foot combat and impressive vehicular segments (especially riding the Brumak). This is one of few games were I have beaten the single player on every difficulty ( minus easy) and on co-op several times. The addition of horde mode made this game one of my favorite cooperative games of all time.
5. Halo 4 ( Played on 360) ( rereleasing on Xbox One )
This is probably the most controversial entry in my top 15 list. I enjoyed Halo 4 more than Halo 3 and Reach due to it having the best balance between single player and multiplayer in the 7th entries of the series. Halo 4's campaign while weaker than Reach's was more polished than Halo 3's. The multiplayer was more balanced than Reach's and had more variety than Halo 3. Halo 4 was one game that improved with time. The multiplayer became more balanced with updates additionally more playlists were added for players who preferred classic modes or playlists with armor abilities. Halo 4 gave me
hundreds of hours of online playtime with friends and strangers alike.
4. Red Dead Redemption (Played on 360) also available on PS3
Red Dead Redemption is a game I regret not buying and playing during its initial release. I purchased this game during the summer of 2014 after coming across a used copy for under 10 bucks. The single player of Red Dead took me over 20 hrs to complete and this one of the few games were I actually enjoyed the side missions. Red Dead Redemption has a very good story and characters, excellent combat and even riding your horse across the wild west is enjoyable. I was truly shocked by how much I enjoyed this game. This game should of been purchased earlier so I could of played the games online modes.
3. Uncharted 2 ( PS3 exclusive )
Uncharted 2 is one the games I first purchased a PS3 for in summer 2012. The second Uncharted game is vastly better than the first and is perhaps one of the most improved sequels I have ever played. The single player mixes stunning set pieces with solid combat , well crafted platforming and puzzles . Uncharted 2 feels like an action adventure film without being too scripted and delivers a cinematic experience that is excellently crafted. This is yet another game in which I regret not touching the multiplayer.
2. Fallout 3 (Played on 360) also on PS3 and PC
Who knew traveling through a nuclear wasteland could be so fun. Fallout 3 may not have the best graphics or story of the games listed but is still something special. The game allowed you a large amount of freedom; you are free to either terrorize the wasteland or be a noble wander. The game was loaded with weapons, perks and armor that allowed for great character customization. Fallout 3 was one game that surprisingly sucked me into its world allowing myself to clock in a total of 70hrs into the single player (including DLC).
1. Mass Effect 2 (Played on 360) also on PS3 and PC
During the summer of 2012 I purchased all three Mass Effect games new from eBay after being told how amazing they were by several friends. I will admit I' m not the biggest fan of the first Mass Effect. However in my opinion Mass Effect 2 is vastly improved over the first. Combat is far better, the cutscenes are more dynamic and the game is just much more cinematic and better playing than its predecessor. Mass Effect 2 is the best single player game I played during the 7th generation and I'm still planning on doing a renegade playthrough of the entire trilogy. Mass Effect 2 is my favorite game of the 7th gen cause it brought me into a universe of great characters, solid storytelling, fun missions and enjoyable combat. I even made sure every single one of my squad mates survived the suicide mission.

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The charity event will be streamed live from Gamescom in August.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.
I would put Fallout 3 on top and GOW 3 instead of Bayonetta.
Other than that its pretty solid. Nothing much to argue with really.
Only 2 RPG games ,no GTA , only one Rockstar game and alot of FPS shooters , but then again i wont blame you , alot of games last gen was shooters but still this a good list. I thought Gears 2 was way better than 3 .
Good list. Mass effect 2 was great man, I still haven't finished 3. It's not as gripping as 2. Someday I will and probably hate the ending. I'll be hating the ending but only because it's ending.
That's a very good, I agree with most, very action oriented.
