I think most gamer's can agree with me ,when i say that the Call Of Duty franchise is one, or maybe the most successful series in gaming history. Every year there is another instant into the series and every year the new game break every sales record in the book. But with the game play getting slightly stale and other titles like Battlefield 3 arriving on the scene. It seems Call of duty could be knocked off the top spot very soon. So do i think that this time next are gamers will have giving up on Call of duty and Activision will of lost it's number one seller ? Well the simple answer to this is... No.
It seems on every you tube video and gaming forum there seems to be a huge amount of hate towards Call Of Duty and much love for Battlefield 3. Often People will argue that Call Of Duty is rubbish and Battlefield 3 will be so much better. Although I completely agree that Call Of Duty is incredibly stale and Battlefield 3 will be a better game. But I also agree that Call Of Duty is going absolutely no where and definitely not by the hands of EA and there attempts to out sell this years Call Of Duty.
I think it's is pretty obvious seeing that Call Of Duty MW3 has the highest pre-order sales in history. Battlefield on the other hand has it's fans threatening to not purchase the game over some pre-order exclusive DLC for the game. Which features 1 unique weapon and 2 attachments. That won't available to people who didn't pre-order until a later date. Although I agree this kind of marketing is wrong. I do believe this was probably an attempt by EA to increase the pre-order sales of Battlefield 3.
I guess the only we will know which Fps is the best later this year when Battlefield 3 and Mw3 are released.Lets just say I wont be buying Mw3 but I will be buying Battlefield 3.
Battlefield 3 will not out sell Call Of Duty this year as COD applies to all Types of gamer. Casual, Harcore and anything in betwine. More importantly it applies the kinds of people who get transformers to number 1 of the movies charts.A quick drop in,easy to pick action title. Those are the kind of people who will be getting Mw3 to the top of the charts in November. So EA enjoy your two weeks of fame before the release of Mw3 as I'm sure when Mw3 arrives it will crush BF3 in sales. Personally i believe that's a shame as Ive always enjoys Battlefield more then Cod.
And I will leave you will this. "The only thing that will every kill Cod is not Skyrim, not Battlefield, not Halo but Cod Itself."
"Kalypso Media and Kite Games are today very proud and happy to announce that ‘Sudden Strike 5’ is now available for PC and consoles." - Kalypso Media and Kite Games.
"Indie developer, Strangely Named is excited to confirm that their latest title, OBLITACRATER, is out now on PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X|S, alongside its full 1.0 release on Steam." - Strangely Named.
"Arc System Works Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce that the Steam port of ‘Puzzle Bobble Every Bubble!’ is available today!" - Arc System Works Co., Ltd.
I loved this blog. Everything you say is so true and it's what i been trying to say to people for the longest. I also don't think Bf3 Will outsell Mw3 but it will do well.
The last cod i bought was Black ops obviously and i liked it for a few weeks... But the gameplay got boring quick.. I did buy Mw2 and liked it for awhile but quickly traded it in for Bad Company 2 and loved every second of it. I only bought black ops because all of the hype but i promise i won't get into it this time.
Besides Battlefield 3 will come out earlier than Cod and that's a plus for me :-)
I personally think that Cod has to update it's engine like alot.. Their graphics are ok i guess. But they havn't been getting any better since Mw2 it's mainly the gameplay that has to change up. And i'm not talking anything minuscule but in a much more larger way. Maybe i only think this because i was a hardcore Cod4 + 5 player and the gameplay just got boring for me. I don't know how people can keep playing the basically the same game every year and not get bored.
I really like this blog. Nice job. All of your points are interesting and well said.
COD is fine. Every year we hear the same thing. Then every year it outsells the previous game. Normal gamers who aren't into competitive gaming will never understand how big a game like COD is on Gamebattles. On Xbox 360 alone there were 45 thousand competitive teams for Black Ops when it came out.
It's the biggest game over there. Also on XBL per day there is over a million people on Black Ops and MW2. The only game that competes with it is Halo Reach. That's only as far as people are concerned.
People are ignorant to spout things like "Same game every year" Do people really think MW3 looks like COD4? I went back yesterday and tried to play COD4 and as much as I loved that game when it came out, it's almost unplayable now. It looks horrid and the movements and animations are slow.
Every COD has made a leap, maybe not a huge one but more of a leap then say the Madden games have made.
Even with all the hate, COD MW3 is out pacing Black Ops in pre orders and will end up selling more. $60 a year is a small price to pay for a game you literally spend days and days on.
1.It has modern warfare in it(technically)
2.It is not made by treyarch
3.It is call of duty
" More importantly it applies the kinds of people who get transformers to number 1 of the movies charts.A quick drop in,easy to pick action title."
Exactly. Going by this, why would I look at sales to decide whether to buy this game or not? I want quality, and Call of Duty is going downhill in terms of that.
As for BF3, Dice and EA are getting ignorant, responding to a certain fanbase in ways that are wrong considering the support they have been given from them. If they keep that up, MW3 will wipe the floor with BF3 and them.
