Just a "fanboy" definition

First let me say this, take what I'm saying in this article not too seriously. This is just my opinion and I'm not trying to force it upon you.

It's easy to call some one a "fanboy" because of their choice of console, game or company. I'm here to give you a definition (or two) of what a "fanboy" is; And that is when a person makes a claim against another persons' choice of console or game is inferior to their own (example: "XBOX 360 sucks because of their hardware and lack luster of great titles!"). Another good look at what makes some one a "fanboy" is when they talk down about another person's preference about a gaming company they support (example: "Microsoft is stealing your money and you're too stupid to realize it!") Or rather when a person makes a claim, be it false or fact, to which another person is wrong entirely about what console, game or company they prefer. So even if you do have facts (i.e. links, graphs, polls, etc), what you're really doing is wasting both your time and the other persons' over a gaming company that doesn't even need your "text-based moral support".

However, a person can not be held accountable of being a "fanboy" if they have a preference of what console or game is more suitable to them. For example, Hiphop Gamer prefers the Play Station 3 over his XBOX 360, yet he still plays the XBOX 360 from time to time. Almost everyone has a preference over what console or game they like, it's natural. As for me, I don't have a preference over which console I like best, because I get what I want out of each and every single one. Now going back on topic, gaming companies have their PR to help out with what ever events need to be held in order to rally up people who prefer that company's game(s) over all others. So of course they'll (game company PR) show off graphs and numbers of how great they're doing nation or world wide, it's all part of the business. In fact, it's one of the better ways to keep their jobs.

Here is what I propose to all of you. Take what you hear from ANY gaming company PR with a grain of salt because the choice of spending your money, be it allowance or salary, is up to you and not them. When it comes to trailers of upcoming games, don't base your judgment off of the CG movies, but rather the game play, story and replay value. Do your research on the game by going to that company's website, wikipedia or GameFAQs for more information. Get to know how the company is doing and their plans for future release titles. With today's economy going down hill and gas prices soaring, a game better be worth the $60! Which brings me to another point, play those free MMOs! Sure most of them have that cute anime look, but it's free and easy to play and not all of them have that "grind-tastic" feel to them =P

That's all I got for now, but I will update once I have more.

Yeah, it makes me mad to see the stupid comments people post about a game when you know just by reading their comment that they haven't even played the game yet! Take the first megaman for instance. It had really bad box art, but it was a really good game! DONT JUDGE A GAME BY ITS COVER!(or trailer). And when you said "anime style mmo you were referring to Gaia heh.

Such a BS law is this honestly, very poorly thought out and far too broadly applied.

So it's to 'protect children' from harmful content in messages, yet they can continue to play multiplayer regardless, where they will hear worse, they can even hear worse stuff in the street and school playground FFS lol

Well, they can't regulate schoolyard talk or the streets of London, so this is probably the next best thing.

I don't agree with it, though it's exactly the sort of tweak around the edges politicians would make to have it seem like they're doing something.

About as effective as "protecting women's sports" in the US that literally targets 4-5 trans athletes nationally: you *could* do that... But why would you do that.

Both cases are just prudish politics for deeply unserious people.
