I know this isn't the kind of thing one would normally talk about on a gaming news site, or if they would it'd be more appropriate in the forums; but I can't log into the forums and I think it's appropriate to talk about here considering just who I am about to talk about.
In case any of you haven't heard, Robin Williams was found dead today. The current working theory is that he committed suicide and died of asphyxiation, a.k.a. he choked to death. Needless to say, this is a very sad day for millions of people who grew up watching some of the best movies with Robin Williams as the star. Mrs. Doubtfire, Hook, Patch Adams, Jumanji, and the absolute best voice of Genie in Aladdin. Robin was also a great standup comedian and no matter what he did, he always seemed so full of life.
Then there's the side that applies to all of us here. Robin Williams was an avid gamer. These days you can't throw a rock in Beverly Hills without hitting some celebrity that claims to be a gamer, likely because it's the current "fad" that they think will boost their image, but Robin Williams was a true gamer through and through.
Robin had a special relationship with Nintendo thanks to his love of the Legend of Zelda franchise. He loved the series so much that when his son Zach suggested they name his new sister Zelda in honor of the titular character of the franchise, Robin and his wife agreed to it and introduced Zelda Williams to the world.
He appeared in commercials advertising Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D with his daughter Zelda (looking just like Santa Claus too) which you can see here...

Legend of Zelda wasn't the only franchise he loved to play. Games like Warhammer or Call of Duty were also games that Robin loved to play as well, and he was looking forward to jumping in to this new generation of consoles as well to see just where games could go.
Robin proved his gaming cred whenever he had the chance.
Today the world lost a funny man who spent decades of his life bringing joy to the world through his movies and his stand up done in his high energy, full of life style.
Today gamers around the world just lost a brother.
Personally, I would hope that game publisher's and developers around the world would find some way of honoring Robin, but I also know that that's impractical and overly sentimental. I can say that were I in that kind of position to do so, I would do what I could to honor him.
For now, this meager blog will have to suffice.
Rest In Peace Robin Williams, May the Gaming Gods keep your achievements safe, and your scores never beaten.
"You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it." - Robin Williams

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The charity event will be streamed live from Gamescom in August.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.
I can remember watching the Robin Williams stand up special at the Met on HBO. I was only like 12 years old, and I laughed so hard I could barely breath. Its sad that the world has lost a man that brought smiles to the faces of millions of people. I never imagined such a funny man as Robin Williams could be so unhappy that he takes his own life. We lost a good one today.
I have no problem with you talking about this on a gaming website. Robin Williams loved gaming. He named his daughter Zelda after the Princess Zelda. ( http://n4g.com/news/787007/... )
So, it does make sense to talk about it here.
But, the sad thing is that Robin Williams will no longer contribute to our world. Which is the real tragedy. He was a man that had already made this a better world through his comedy and through Comic Relief.
RIP Robin Williams
This is truly a sad, sad day. Robin Williams was a comedic genius, and that is not said lightly. However, he evolved into one of the most versatile actors in Hollywood today. Each role brought subtle nuances to the character, while also remaining quintessentially Robin Williams. He was able to create light moments in the midst of intense drama like nobody before. Those who don't know his work, you are missing something truly special. His comedy was quirky, spontaneous, improvisational, and often inspired by his life. Though he only got 1 Oscar, most would say that he did several Oscar worthy movies. He did plenty of smaller, indie films and even had a stint on Broadway.
Sadly, mental health issues don't discriminate. He battled Bipolar Disorder his entire life. Early on, he chose to medicate with drugs and alcohol. Later, mostly just alcohol. It was said that he was in rehab to try to stay sober as recently as July.
This is NOT to say that he was weak or at fault, as some silly tweets suggest. This is to say that he, like every man, is fragile. Sometimes life takes a toll on people that they can't find the strength to pay by themselves.
I know that I will miss Robin Williams for the rest of the time that I watch movies. That being said, what I feel pales in comparison to what his family and friends are feeling. My heart felt condolences to them and to his fans.
Twas surprising waking up to Robin Williams death. Just out of nowhere man. RIP Robin Williams, you were one heck of an actor.
I actually remember(and love) him most by his dramatic roles. "Awakenings" where he plays a doctor alongside Robert De Niro, very underrated perfomance by Williams.
"Good Will Hunting", one the best roles, for which he won an Oscar.
"Where Dreams May Come", where he goes to hell to save his wife, who committed suicide.. oh, the irony..
"Insomnia" where he plays a psycho serial killer alongside Al Pacino, again very underrated perfomance and a great movie. "Dead Poets Society"... Lots more. He was a really great dramatic actor. R.I.P
